As I mentioned in the other thread, we live in a neighbourhood that is ageing ... our cul-du-sac has no small kids ... Usually we see about 15 kids ... it used to be more but never the numbers that some people see ... This year we had zero ... I think the fact it was raining a bit played a part So now dh and dd's have too much candy to eat ... they are not complaining Anyone else have no one come to the door?

that's why I didn't buy any candy this year- last year we only had one, and our neighborhood is older- No little kids at all. Our neighborhood is a circle, and our house is on the very back of the circle.

Not a single one and I even bought full size candy bars this year thinking we would have at least the child across the street and the little one a couple houses down but nada. I think they went to the neighborhoods where all the action is with their friends. Our street is dark, no street lights and set further apart than the ones across the road. We had several houses decorate this year and put their porch lights on but still not a one . My grown daughter went to her boyfriend's house a couple of miles away, which is located near an elementary school and she said there were few and far between children as they trick or treated with his niece and nephew. The houses they went to gave them handfuls of candy, probably because they had so few tot'ers.

none- but in all my adult life (and I'm 47), I've never once had a trick or treater other than my own kids. We're currently VERY rural (as in can't see our house from the road and can't see any neighbours from our property), before that we were semi-rural down a dirt road, and before that we were in flats (apartment complexes) in sketchy parts of town where families leave and take their kids TorT-ing somewhere else, and my first rental place was a tiny guest house tucked behind a big triple decker in yet another sketchy neighbourhood. I hope one day we'll live somewhere where we can decorate for Hallowe'en and Christmas and get T-or-T'ers and have an actual neighbourhood but DH doesn't like having neighbours so that's probably a pipedream

We didn't get any this year. We usually only have a handful, but last year we had around 25 so I was hopeful that we would have more again.

We had none, but we never do. We live very rural. But we do the trunk or treat at my parents church. My Mom was dressed as a witch, Dad as a hobo and I was a cat.

It wasn’t raining here thankfully but it WAS really cold. I know that kept the numbers down because almost none of the younger kids in the neighborhood were out. It was all of the older ones out last night.

We never get many kids in my neighborhood. It's small and less than half the people turn on their lights. I had a short night. I was sitting outside and ran in the house for something quickly. Some 12 year old (I know who he is) and his buddy thought it would be fun to dump the entire bag of candy into his pillow case and run. 15 minutes after trick or treat started I was out of candy.

We never get trick or treaters. The houses in our neighborhood would require children being driven to each. It simply doesn't happen.

I was very disappointed, we got ver very few kids last night. Normally we have lots of kids. I bought to huge bags of candy from Costco, and have most of it left over. The only reason I can think of is that they have the street leading to our court closed off for construction. We always have a lot of kids driven in from other neighborhoods. The court we live on has no kids, but I love seeing them on Halloween.

Only nieces and nephews. We live on a busy highway. Everyone goes to the subdivisions to get the "good candy". Little do they know those of us in the least hit areas give in quantity and quality because we don't have to give so much. My cousin in the subdivision was giving out 2-3 Hershey Kisses because she gets hit so hard, that was all she could afford. I made 20 goody bags, each filled with a rice krispy treat, popcorn ball, bag of chips, cracker jacks and a fruit roll up. I gave our last trick or treater (my littlest nephew) two, dh ate one and I had three left over.
Oh, we did have one non family set stop. DD's bff and her sister (both teens). They had seen the goody bags on fb and talked their mom into bringing them over. They were the only ones we didn't expect. I really had hoped we would get a few more.
I did have 2 people post on my pics of the bags, at the end of the evening, they wish they had seen the post earlier, they would have stopped with their kids, which was what I was hoping for by posting.
I couldn't even drum up trick or treaters with advertising, lol.

We got *almost* no trick or treaters. We live on a cul-de-sac also and only one school age kid lives on our street. We had 2 "groups" of 2 each come to our door. I used to love seeing all the dressed up kids that came to our door and I miss that. But I do understand. When I was a kid we wouldn't have wasted any of the precious 2 hours on a street that wouldn't yield much.

We're in a huge neighborhood but we're in kind of a little offshoot area. Almost all the people in this section go to other sections, so there aren't even that many people handing out candy in this part. DD was in a different area of the neighborhood with friends, and DH took DS over there, as well - so even my kids only hit up the people we really know on our street. But it has ebbed and changed over the years we've lived here. The first few years, we got over 200...that decreased fairly suddenly and for several years it was 25 or fewer. I think this year we actually had more than normal, even though it was cold and rainy (not the norm here). I think a lot of times, if you've lived in an area long enough, you'll see the patterns change.

We have lived in our house for 19 years and in that time, we've had ONE. We're set way back on a heavily wooded lot and there are no street lights out here. Houses are far apart. I always bought candy and left the light on and nobody ever came. Last year, I decided I was done. We don't need the candy and the kids aren't coming anyway. Our little community puts on a festival at city hall with hay rides and free hot dogs and trick or treating. Nobody is going door to door with that available and I don't blame them. But it makes me sad too.

Weather here was beautiful--mids 60s.
We had a group of three around 7:30.
About 8:45 I got into my pjs and put the candy basket in the kitchen.
Not soon after a girl about 10 came.
She got a ton of candy!
So four total.

We don’t get any, either. We’re out in the boonies and only ever got my daughter’s friends when she was in school. She brought her youngest last year (14) and he decided he wasn’t going this year, so nobody.

We are usually hit and miss. One year it's crazy and dead the next. But this year we didn't do the TOT.. for lots of reasons but we didn't get any phantom knockers either. I'm hearing this on facebook many didn't get them in droves.

We had a handful. DS was sitting outside handing out candy. He came in around 7:00 saying the kids were skipping our house. Our house is set off the street by about 50 yards, I guess that was just too far to walk. We live in a very small town, with almost no street lights and no sidewalks and not that many kids. We have so much left over candy. Dh took candy for his students last night, he had 17 out of 42 show up. So we have that left over candy too. Maybe next year we wont participate.

We had one We live on a short dark street so we don't usually get many. I was hoping that after trunk or treat was over we would get some of those kids. But we just got the one. Dh even finally bought full size candy this year. So maybe next year

I've lived here over 30 years and we only had trick-or-treaters once. I gave them each a handful of coins from the coin jar. I'd long ago stopped buying candy.

None but we were out too late for anyone who would have come. Even if we're home kids often don't come to our house because they're too lazy to climb the stairs to our front door since it's on the second story so we didn't feel bad hanging out at my in laws and admiring their trick or treaters

We didn't (my father is too frail to come TOT and sat in our house while my mother walked around with us), but our house is not visible from the street, and while our dead-end is private homes, the cross street is primarily apartment buildings, so I don't think people make it over to our street frequently (and if they do, I don't think they see my house).

We live out in the woods, with a long dark driveway. No trick or treaters for us.
I still bought lots of candy for all of us (2 teens at home plus me and DH) but we held off on eating the last of it until after 9pm, just in case.

Like the OP, my neighborhood is a more mature demographic. There are about 30-40 houses on my block (it's a very long block).
I had 3 groups come to my house Trick or Treating. The last group was a group of teenagers who rang the doorbell at 10:30, and of course I gave them candy!!
It was raining here, as well, so maybe that was a factor.

I haven't had a trick or treater since 2009. The few kids on my street are teens who prefer parties to walking the street. I'm ok with not getting any to be honest.

We live in a neighborhood which used to get 100s of TOT'ers... I mean it was non-stop. Last night we got around 50 (and great weather). Although a lot of the original kids have grown up, they have been replaced with younger ones (lol)... over the years though, you have to walk further and further between houses before you found one with the lights on. Now we just literally go across to the neighboring neighborhood, which is the same age as ours, and EVERYONE is over there and a huge difference with participants.. way more houses that are open and WAY better decorations.
