I want to get a spiralizer because I want to cut down on carbs, and add more vegetables to my diet (and to my family's diet). A friend recommended one but when I went to Amazon I saw that it had only 54% good ratings.
So tell me about the one you use and that you would recommend. Bonus points for you if it's a small one. I SO don't want yet another gadget hanging around but I'm willing to get this one because dd has been asking and she's been buying all the already-spiralized vegetables from the store. I know we could save money by doing it ourselves.

The Wirecutter recommends the OXO one. It’s not the one I have, but is the one I’d go with if I were buying one now. The KitchenAid one is super popular among peas, but I hate it. A hassle to set up, wastes way too much of whatever you’re spiralizing and overly expensive. thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-spiralizer/

I have the insprializer one. It's fine, much better than the small hand one I had before...avoid those. I can spiraluze beets just fine with mine, which was what I really wanted to do

I have the Paderno. It's easy to use, and I like that it has different plates so you can get different results. I got it on clearance at Marshall's. One of my best kitchen gadget bargains.

I'm always the Debbie Downer on these threads (I hate my Shark Navigator vacuum, which everyone loves), but my Paderno will not stick to the counter. I went back to my Veggetti- the little handheld one.

Thanks everyone. Looks like Paderno wins this unofficial poll. For awhile there I had as many different replies as I had people who replied. lol. But then Paderno pulled ahead. Off to take a look at it on Amazon.

I'm not sure if you could- may be too tough to twist? I do love how the Paderno works- when I can get it to stay still. I've been buying spiralized butternut squash at Publix- haha.

I have the OXO- got at bed bath beyond with 20% coupon. I like it- works well. Really like separate box to store the blades, easy to wash, not to bad to store- handle fold to fit in cabinet.

I just have the handheld Vegetti and it works well for my needs. I didn't want to store anything larger.

Or maybe try a surfac made of something different than your countertops? Mine suctions well but I've had to do the water thing with a couple other suction things around the house. Did you try their customer service? I haven't needed to so I can't speak from experience but I'd try anyway.

I have this tiny one and it has worked fantastic for a year. I wanted one that doesn't take up space, and manual/non-electric was fine for me. DD11 loves carrot noodles which is a little more effort to get out - but still not much effort at all. When we spiralize other softer things like cucumber it's a piece of cake!

My mom has this one and LOVES it I have this one and I really like it. The cookbooks are good too. Prior to owning this, I’d never cooked a parsnip—in fact I don’t think I’d ever even purchased one! The parsnip au gratin recipe is delicious!

- I had the Inspiralizer but the handle broke on the first use. - I have the Paderno but it doesn't stick to the counter even after replacing the suction cups. It is cheaply made (one blade "plate" had already cracked and had to be replaced) and so did the base. It is barely hanging on. - I have a hand-held inverted conical shaped one but my hand cramps after about the third zucchini. - I bought the Kitchen Aide one since it had the highest reviews on other cooking website.
