We were at Sam's last week and they had the travel lock-top Crockpot 6 qt. programmable w/the little dip crockpot for $30. DH decided he wanted it. I haven't opened it yet. I have an older round crockpot that is great, but it had the 2 speed dial on it. Do you like the programmable better? The outside seems "cheaper" to me. Don't know if it's a keeper or not.

Don't get rid of your old one! I have found that most of the newer crockpots heat too fast, which is great if you're short on time. Most of my crockpot meals take 4-5 hours on low. I can't use it & let something cook all day. It even has a keep warm function that it kicks over to when time is up, but even then, the food can dry out if I don't watch it.

That's what I was worried about. Thanks for posting.

I've one for years now and never had a problem with food drying out. I generally cook on low if I'm going to be out all day.

I love mine and the lock top is awesome. I've never had an issue with food drying out.

Thanks for posting. I'm still on the fence, but will most likely keep the new one and hang on to the old one for insurance purposes.
