I didn't see another thread started for November so here I go... this silly thing just makes me smile for some reason. I can't decide if it's ugly or pretty but it makes me smile either way, which puts it in the plus column. It's retro someone's past craft project. It's a framed (12x18"ish) Christmas tree made of jewelry pieces on black velvet. And it lights up! HoHoHo! (and HaHaHa!) View Attachment <<<Click to enlarge....expensive, too! 2 bucks! What fun finds or great deals have you found of late. Extra points for pictures! Cool! Can you remove and return pieces if you want to wear them?

That is a fun find! The 'jewelry as art' is a thing again, but this time around they put it all in together very tightly. You should check out Pinterest. I have 2 shoe boxes full of mom's old costume jewelry that no one in the family wanted. I was wanting to put it together as a picture but didn't have enough for what people are doing now. Your version gives me an idea of what I can do with what I have! I've only had time to quickly stop in at one thrift store this month. They have started pulling all the better items and putting them in a booth at an antique shop so there is little to find now. I did check out their fabric/craft area as they had it half off that day. Found a very nice needlepoint kit I was going to buy and flip. When I went to check out they refused to give the half off because it was "seasonal". The cashier deemed it seasonal because the kit was called Christmas Memories. More on principal than anything, I told them to keep it. I was in a mood that day, what can I say!

My aunt made one of those, but took all the backs off the broaches she used. My mother said that some of the jewelry was really good. But if you aren't going wear it. Might as well do something with it.

I love this monthly thread! I recently visited my favorite lunch spot (thrift store not too far away) and purchased a cute shirt to wear under cardigans (wearing it today as a matter of fact).
Another thing I picked up 'free on curb' were 4 very sturdy dining room table chairs - wood with upholstered seats. They need some love. I plan to recover the seat cushions with a durable weather proof material and paint the wood a nice white. The chairs will be used when DS has his friends over for fire pit parties. We always need more chairs.

I went to the auction Saturday night. I picked up a fall season flag on a flagpole for a whopping $1. It was a nice sized one, bigger than some. Definitely not a craft store one.
I picked up a brand new Nintendo Gamecube and controller along with 2 used controllers and 5 games for $15!! We'll probably sell the Gamecube seeing we already have one, the games alone were worth the $15.
I also picked up a table that folds on either side. It will be a great craft table because it is much bigger than your standard folding table plus its higher. I was thinking of puzzle making on it, won't kill your back as much leaning over the puzzle. The table was $7.50 wish I knew the dimensions. Can't remember if it's an Ikea one.
I also picked up a ten speed bike for my son for $20. It's a good brand which I of course can't remember the name. Could use new tires down the road but definitely worth the $$

I don't think I would though

DH was searching for records at a new "curated" Goodwill we passed by. as he was paying for his records, i picked up an interesting cuff style watch. i paid $1.99 not so much for the watch mechanism (although it has a beautiful mother of pearl face), but more for the leather cuff. i get in the car and Google the watch. turns out it's from Gwen Stefani's L.A.M.B. fashion line and originally sold for $275.00. i had a $5 battery put in and it works like charm and looks good too.

I remember seeing those "jewelry art" trees when I was a child - I believe I had an aunt who used one in her Christmas decor.
My mama, youngest son, and I stopped the other day by a little thrift store run as a fundraiser by the humane society. Mama sat in a chair to wait as I looked. Immediately, a sweet young cat jumped up in her lap and she thoroughly enjoyed petting the kitty. As I checked out, I joked, "How much for the cat?" Well... turns out it was available for adoption. We went home with a piece of framed art, some vintage coasters in their original box, a set of napkin rings -- and a beautiful 16-month old gray kitty named Gabby.
Thrift store shopping can be dangerous! Lol.

i stopped in a small gift shop that was selling those vintage jewelry trees and were even teaching classes on how to make them. they were charging $30 for the class and that included the jewelry. seemed kind of cheap to me but it's probably just to get people familiar with their shop.

i don't have pics, but last week I finally scored an above ground pool. i'd been looking for the right used one since april, finally found it and the elderly gentleman was giving it away for free! it's an 18'x33' doughboy in great condition, he took meticulous care of it. DH, the boys and I all went on Saturday and disassembled it in the 40 degree rain, that part sucked. but it's over now and next summer we'll finally have a pool again!
and tonight I found a like-new, $200 custom cruiser bike for $50. I've been stalking ads on and off for a long time but am always too late for the ones in our budget.

I visited three antique stores today. One was a 4 stories of treasures located in a very old building. Very cool. I didn't buy anything but am still thinking about a set of vintage glasses (8) in a silver caddy. It was cool and priced reasonably. I may have to go back someday... I was sad when my DH told me there had been an estate sale about 1/2 block away from home today. I totally missed it. Oh well.
I hope everyone had a great shopping weekend.

My friend is closing up a retail space to move and had a 70% off sale so I got a ton of stuff including 21 balls of wool yarn for 50 cents each, hangers, crepe paper for 50 cents, scissors for $2 each, and a bunch of zutter bindings for $6. Like enough to bind everyone's book at school for a project and have left over. I plan to make a gift basket for my mil with the wool since I have no time to knit and she's a knitter.

My great purchase at the auction last night was paying $10 for 52 cds. Not new but people I love llike Barbara Streisand, josh groban, Celine dion, Neil diamond, yanni and other easy listening people, Also included some Christmas music.. my ds grabbed the Dean Martin one and played it in the car. Love hearing 22 year olds singing to the oldies.
I think at work I'll have to start listening to music again instead of Netflix!
