...wallet "“Wonder Woman” star Gal Gadot is continuing to battle accused Hollywood sexual harasser Brett Ratner by refusing to sign for a superhero sequel unless the movie-maker is completely killed from the franchise. A Hollywood source tells Page Six that Gadot — who last month backed out of a dinner honoring Ratner, where she was due to present him with an award — is taking a strong stance on sexual harassment in Hollywood and doesn’t want her hit “Wonder Woman” franchise to benefit a man accused of sexual misconduct. Ratner’s production company RatPac-Dune Entertainment helped produce “Wonder Woman” as part of its co-financing deal with Warner Bros. The movie has grossed more than $400 million internationally, and Ratner’s company will take a healthy share of the profits. A Warner Bros. insider explained, “Brett made a lot of money from the success of ‘Wonder Woman,’ thanks to his company having helped finance the first movie. Now Gadot is saying she won’t sign for the sequel unless Warner Bros. buys Brett out [of his financing deal] and gets rid of him.” The source added of Israeli-born Gadot, “She’s tough and stands by her principles. She also knows the best way to hit people like Brett Ratner is in the wallet. " More women are feeling more empowered to take action, take control, take up our power as half the human population. Symbolism is important. Hitting the money boys in the wallet is how real change happens. pagesix.com/2017/11/11/gal-gadot-will-only-be-wonder-woman-again-if-brett-ratner-is-out/

I read this on Twitter yesterday and it's a good point... She didn't get a multi-movie contract upfront, unlike is the norm for male superhero movie stars (because who could have imagined that there would be a market for a female superhero?!?! UGH). If she had a normal-for-dudes contract, she wouldn't have been able to take this stand. But since they screwed her, she is now in a position to screw them. So I'll say it again... good for her!

I just watched Wonder Woman this weekend and was really impressed by how the movie had 50 year old women has amazon gladiators in starring roles.

If she had a normal-for-dudes contract, she wouldn't have been able to take this stand. But since they screwed her, she is now in a position to screw them. So I'll say it again... good for her! They also didn't give Patti Jenkins, the director, a contract for a second film. When it was a runaway hit, she was in the position of pretty much asking for whatever she wanted from the studio to come back and direct again. (and I certainly hope she did). I clearly remember walking out of Guardians of the Galaxy (the first one) and going Marvel can make a talking raccoon work, but Wonder Woman will never sell? I don't think so!

Awesome! (I mean the circumstances working in her favor.) All I know is those in power had better give her what she wants. She was an amazing Wonder Woman! I have watched that movie dozens of times. They don't need the skeevy dude's money.

I think it's awesome, too, but my guess is, there's waaaay more $$$ to be had from teen-aged boys and their superheroes than to give in to this pressure just for another Wonder Woman movie. So they'll probably just quietly let a Wonder Woman franchise slip away, and the official announcement will be 'creative differences' or some such drivel.

Too much money on the table. This franchise is hot right now. A money printer. Ain't no one walking away from that if they can possibly help it.

Wonder Woman had some of the best box office results of this year and I believe exceeded every other superhero move that was released this year. Sequels generally perform *better* with superhero movies, as well.

I hadn't realized it did QUITE so well... maybe they WILL do it after all. But my cynicism is showing today, I guess, and led me to think they'd just as soon throw out the 'girl' superhero just because they still have all the rest of them.

led me to think they'd just as soon throw out the 'girl' superhero just because they still have all the rest of them. unfortunately for DC, the Boys aren't doing so hot. the last couple of Superman/Batman films and the Suicide Squad were all critical bombs. Justice League (which opens this week) is getting thin reviews, as in it was good, not great but good. while WW continues to blow all of them out of the water. Bottom line is DC NEEDS Diana, and the studio better pony up whatever their leads want to keep the cash flowing in. Sorry for the tangent, I'm a bit of a geek about box office stuff and I've been following the reviews for Justice League with interest. Plus Jason Mamoa as Aquaman. Because reasons.

This is current 2017 movie grosses for the year. Wonder Woman did exceptionally well this year - not only did it make a ton of money, it was very well received by both audiences and critics. There is a lot more money to be made with the franchise and money talks. They could replace Gal Gadot, but why risk it when the first was so successful.

Funny how the top two are both "girl" movies. OMG WHAT? HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?

Jason Mamoa as Aquaman. Because reasons. I gotta say, while he is hot, the way they have him portraying Aquaman isn't QUITE what I pictured. Never pictured Aquaman with a beard, I guess (too much Khal Drogo resemblance, maybe?)... but the rest of him is a-okay! lol!

does she have that kind of clout at this point? we are talking about finding a new financier for a mega film that will probably cost another $200M the sequel. and when she signed on to play WW, didn't she sign on for the other sequels as is standard in Hollywood? wouldn't she be in breach if she didn't do the films? don't get me wrong, i think "good for her" for taking a stand but the Hollywood machine is a bit more complex than many realize. bigger than any one actor unless you are a Tom Cruise caliber actor. i just don't think Gal Gadot has earned that much clout at this point in the game.

I always thought it was funny that many of my women friends couldn't go see "chick flicks" w/their husbands/bfs because the men refused to go. The friends would go see the "dick picks" w/their boyfriends, but the boyfriends wouldn't reciprocate, so they would ask the women in our friend group to see "chick flicks". I'm lucky, DH would always come to a CF if I asked him to and I would go to a DF if he asked. We didn't always want to see them with each other, but I always admired him for coming along at no loss to his masculinity. I've always found that men who are most secure in their masculinity are the least likely to be bothered by nonsense like seeing CFs or sometimes acknowledging that women exist in ways other than sex and sammiches.

I think the success of the first does give her the cloud and I don't think she signed on for multiple films. But I read earlier it is likely a moot point anyway as the contract with Ratner's production company expires in 2018 anyway and the film is slated to come out in 2019.

Wonder Woman was the best thing about Batman v Superman! I have been pretty disappointed in DC movies of late. However Wonder Woman gave me faith.
