Kind of a shot in the dark, I know..... A group of art friends want to travel to both Portland and Seattle and are looking for retreat type houses that are used to accommodating groups of 10-15 people. If you live in either of those areas or have visited, would you have any suggestions?

Your best bet is to search airbnb and vrbo.

Thanks. I did and I can find homes that accommodate larger groups. But some facilities are set up for artists or quilters, which is better for us, so I thought I’d ask.

Our group rents out The Lodge at Cedar Springs a few times a year. It's fabulous. Sleeps 18. Huge kitchen, gorgeous setting and fabulous crafting room. The one downside is that they don't have many tables in the craft room. Maybe 5 folding tables. We all bring one of our own. There are plenty of chairs. We usually have 10-17 attend. lodgeatcedarsprings.comIt's in Cedro Woolley, about an hour North of Seattle. The owners, Nan and Michael are wonderful.

I have stayed at Heaven Can Wait Lodge located outside of Leavenworth. I definitely recommend it! Gorgeous! My stay was in mid-November and it started snowing the night we arrived and it was just magical! www.vrbo.com/207995

We have also stayed at Frog Creek. It's south west of Seattle. Gorgeous property. The crafting space was a bit smaller. We had 10 people and we all got one four foot table and our tables were all pushed up against each other. But, if you are up for being in different areas of the house, it has lots of room in other areas and plenty of tables. frogcreeklodge.com/gallery/

The Hobby Hideaway is awesome. My group has had a weekend there for the past 4 years. Unfortunately, it is next to impossible to book a holiday (unless you are OK with a holiday weekend, like Mother's Day, Easter, etc). I'd give it a shot, but know that there are not many openings.
