My boyfriend wants to get his mother a new set of cooking pans (mostly skillets) for Christmas. She has a set but they're a decade old and the non stick coating has been burned off by the heat of the electric stove. He wants to get her a good set where the coating won't burn off. I thought I'd turn to the Peas and see what thoughts you all have. Thanks in advance!

I recommend ceramic cookware. It is non stick but doesn't flake off like Teflon pans.
I got a nice set at Walmart a couple of years ago and they still look brand new - the brand is called Grrenlife

We have a crappy electric stovetop (GE) in our "luxury" apartment. The elements are always a bit uneven and it's hard to cook on them. We have 3 really good cooks here and we all hate cooking on that stove. We chucked out DH's old Farberware set and DS27 bought us a whole Wolfgang Puck set last year. It's been great. There were 2 new type Teflon pans with the set, but nothing's happened to them yet. We're trying to be careful--washing them all by hand. Good luck!!

I have used both stainless steel and cast iron on an electric coil stove before.
