I have corn syrup that expired in 2016. I’d like to make a pecan pie for Thanksgiving and I haven’t found corn syrup here yet. Would the expired corn syrup be ok?

I'd use it and probably have at some point as I don't pay attention to expiration dates.

I've always wondered if it was okay to use when it's old. I always just get a new bottle, but it looks like that isn't an option for you. I did Google it and this is what I found.
"Light corn syrup may turn slightly yellow with age, but this is normal and not harmful. Karo syrup is safe to eat for an indefinite period of time regardless of whether it has been opened. However, for best results we recommend using before the "Best by" date stamped on the container."
So it looks like I won't be worrying about it any more. Thanks for asking this question!!

I'd use it as long as it doesn't smell or taste chemically. I don't remember if it's usually in the baking section near the sugar or in the breakfast section near the maple syrup.

Sugar in high concentrations is a preservative and prevents mold or bacterial growth, so it's probably fine. The consistency might have changed though, so it might be more crystalline or chunky on cooking, but I don't think it will hurt you.

My aldi's carries it in their baking section. Also, it's totally fine to use past the expiration date.

Have you checked Spinney's? If they don't have any, I'd just go ahead and use the old since it has a "Best By" date and not an "expiration" date.

I would definitely use it. It takes me a long time to go through a bottle - I'm sure it is never in date.

I don't think I've ever checked for an expiration date on mine. I would give it a taste and move on from there.

We have corn syrup in the cupboard and I am sure it's 15 years old as I haven't baked the cookies I use it for in a long time. I didn't think corn syrup went bad and I would smell it and use it if I needed it. It could be older than 15 years old as I have been home from Japan for 20 years+ and I think we had it before then.

I am sure it's fine, and I'm another one who never even thinks to look at the date on a bottle of Karo. And I mix light and dark Karo for my pecan pie, so I always have old, open bottles in the back of the pantry.
