"A man who said he voted for President Trump in 2016 said on Monday that if Jesus Christ told him Trump colluded with Russia, he would still have to check with the president to see if it was true. “If Jesus Christ gets down off the cross and told me Trump is with Russia, I would tell him, 'Hold on a second. I need to check with the president if it's true,’” said Mark Lee, one of six Trump voters to appear on a CNN panel Monday morning. Lee said that he doesn’t believe having multimillionaires in Trump’s Cabinet is counterproductive to Trump’s “drain the swamp” message. “I love that,” he said. “They’re not politicians.”" thehill.com/homenews/administration/361158-trump-voter-if-jesus-christ-told-me-trump-colluded-with-russia-idWow. Never thought we'd be here.

There was a decent discussion on Morning Joe about this, listing multiple opinions or beliefs some were disregarding in order to support Trump. They said it was a characteristic behavior supporting a dictator.

I saw that Trump voter panel and my jaw dropped when I heard that. On a brighter note, there was one woman who had almost instant voters remorse on her Trump vote. At least she is thinking.
I've all but stopped speaking to several family members who behave in much the same way as this man. And they definitely identify as Christians. (I'm afraid to find out their opinion on Moore) I can only attribute it to them getting all their info via Fox and alt-right media sources. A little simple fact checking on their end would inform them that those sources are often falsely reporting, but they're only interested in hearing reporting that affirms their beliefs and feelings.

There was a decent discussion on Morning Joe about this, listing multiple opinions or beliefs some were disregarding in order to support Trump. They said it was a characteristic behavior supporting a dictator. I have been reading the biography of Dietrich Bonhoeffer by Eric Metaxas. He was a Lutheran pastor and theologian who was very outspoken against Hitler's regime. The history stuff in the book is fascinating and frightening. I am not exaggerating when I say that what is happening in this country right now is just like Germany in the 1930s. You can't even argue that the author was trying to make a comparison between Hitler and Trump because it was published in 2010.

It's a factual account of the rise of Hitler along with the story of the US Ambassador's family at the time. I was reading it prior to the election and the similarities were chilling. I said the US was smarter than that. I was wrong.

You might also enjoy "In The Garden of Beasts" by Eric Larson. I I started to read this after I got through Devil in the White City. But IIRC, it was tough for me to get into it, and it was a library book- so I had to return it. After Trump's election, it might have more relevance to me. I'll have to keep an eye out for it at the used book store.

I swear it's like a cult. It is exactly like a cult to too many. No reason gets through. No logic. Just "beliefs". A friend's sisiter lived w/in a cult like this for years, and though she finally got out about 20 years ago, she is still super susceptible to all manner of come-ons...tarot readings, fortune tellers, conspiracy theories. Oh, and yes, she's a Trump supporter.

Here are 4 things Trump just said about Roy Moore and womenOn the Senate race in Alabama: "We don’t need a liberal person in there, a Democrat, Jones. I’ve looked at his record. It’s terrible on crime. It’s terrible on the border. It’s terrible on military. I can tell you for a fact we do not need somebody who’s going to be bad on crime, bad on borders, bad for the military, bad for the Second Amendment." On the allegations: "He denies it. Look, he denies it. If you look at what is really going on, if you look at all the things that have happened over the last 48 hours. He totally denies hit. He says it didn’t happen. And you know you have to look at him also. He says 40 years ago this did not happen." On if he'll campaign for Moore: "I’ll be letting you know next week. But I can tell you, you don’t need somebody who’s soft on crime like Jones." On women: "Women are very special. I think it’s a very special time. There’s a lot of things that’s coming out. I think it’s good for our society. I think it’s very, very good for women and I’m very happy a lot of this is coming out. I’m very happy it’s being exposed." November 21, 2017 3:46pm EST President Trump may campaign for Roy MooreFrom CNN's Jeremy Diamond President Donald Trump on Tuesday left the door open to campaigning with embattled Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore. "I’ll be letting you know next week," he said when asked whether he will campaign with Moore. This came as he repeatedly defended Moore from allegations of sexual misconduct and tore into Moore's Democratic opponent, Doug Jones.' www.cnn.com/2017/11/13/politics/roy-moore-latest/index.htmlEnough said?

My husband, Republican and holder of a master's degree in history with a specialization in WWII, agrees that there are disturbing similarities. He holds out hope that our constitution, justice system and term limits will prevent what happened then from happening here.

He says it didn’t happen. ^^^ TRUMP said that about Moore- revirdsuba99 did NOT say that-- to be clear. apparently all you have to do is deny it. That's what Sarah Huckabee SAnders said, when she was asked- something to the effect of, 'look, Al Franken apologized. President Trump has denied the allegations against him,' as if that somehow makes a difference. The fact that Trump (and now Moore) SAY they didn't do it is the deciding factor, somehow.

If you'd asked any of us a few years ago if our government would let this kind of idiocy stand in the White House, would any of us believe it? Even contemplate it?

At this point, if you still support Trump, I just have to assume you’re a racist, a bigot, a sexist, stupid, or some combination of the four.
I mean... all the evidence is there.
