My friend is a fabulous cook and although she lives alone she does entertain a fair amount. I know there's been a lot of discussion of the instant pot here and I wondered if this would be a good gift for my friend? And, if so, is there something that I could pair with it that might be useful....cookbook, accessory, etc.

It would be a great gift for anyone who cooks regularly. It’s a huge time saver. The nice thing about it is you can cook whatever portions you want in it depending on what you need. For someone cooking only for themselves primarily, she could cook up a larger amount of whatever and break it down into single servings and freeze the leftovers. Then on a different day she can pull out what she feels like eating and just reheat it vs. having to start from scratch for every meal.
ETA: Since she sometimes cooks for a number of people, I wouldn’t opt for the smaller 3 qt model. You can cook small amounts of food in the larger one just as easily, plus it gives more flexibility when it comes to the pans and accessories that will fit in it.
