In light of David Cassidy passing, let's take a poll on who your favorite 1970's male teen idol was!

I turned 13 in 81 and it was Scott Baio, I hate to admit it now. I haven’t liked what little I’ve seen about him over the years.

In the UK Rod Stewart, David Soul and Gary Glitter were also huge stars among others I loved. I hesitate to mention G G in light of knowledge today but he was a massive star in the UK then.. But David Cassidy was my "dreamboat", posters on the wall heartthrob

I was born in '72 so none of these really apply. I would like to nominate pretty much the entire cast of The Outsiders with a particular nod to Matt Dillon and Rob Lowe. And I've always had a side thing going on with Jason Bateman.

Davy Jones slightly beats David Cassidy. The accent puts him in the lead.
I have to say, though, Ricky Nelson beats both of them IMO. Loved his band, and he was so handsome!

On my phone so I can’t see the poll, but my crushes back then were Bobby Sherman and Shaun Cassidy.

Still crush on Donny Osmond.
I turned 13 in 1981 so I was all about Partick Swayze, Ralph Macchio, and C Tommy Howell.

I was born in 1969, but I would still have to go with David Cassidy, because I watched the Partridge Family all the time. Also watched the Brady Bunch and the rest of them, but I never thought Greg Brady was all that cute- I do love the Davy Jones episode of the Brady Bunch, though!!
I never had posters all over my room, or anything, but the other teen heartthrob type tv show I used to watch religiously was The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries starring Sean Cassidy and Parker Stevenson. <sigh...>
I didn't love Donny Osmond until later, when he became Joseph from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat!! <sigh...>
(and as an aside, this is the first time one of my teen idols has died- talk about something happening that makes you feel old...)

Bobby Sherman and Tony DeFranco (even saw a concert with the DeFranco family)
Also a special nod to Rex Smith because that's how I met my husband. He made fun of me for listening to Rex Smith over and over on my 8 track player as a way to start a conversation with me.

Davy Jones Was my first love possibly tying for first place with Michael Jackson then Donny Osmond and David Cassidy. I’m still a huge Michael Jackson fan. Maurice Gibb, Dennis Wilson, Graham Hicks, Stevie Winwood and Peter Frampton were all pretty cute too. Showing my age, I bet many don’t have a clue who they were.

My first idol was David Cassidy. Then, he was replaced by Donny Osmond.
Also on that list I liked Leif Garret and Shaun Cassidy, but never to the extent that I liked David and Donny. ETA - one more, Andy Gibb.

My first crush was Shaun Cassidy. I came home from school one day and my mom had cut out an article from the newspaper for me, he had gotten married and I started crying and my mom was like "was you hoping to marry him and I answered yes because nobody loves him like I do". Next up was Rick Springfield and I still love him to this day along with Michael Hutchence-they were and are still my idols. Today is the 20th anniversary of Michael's death. I have already shed a tear for him.

Shaun Cassidy was my crush, followed by Leif Garrett and David Cassidy. But then I saw a poster of Andy Gibb on my best friend's wall, and that was it. Nobody else could take my heart!
Ahhh...to be that young again!

I chose 2 - Davy Jones was my first ever crush. I was in like 5th grade and Oh my goodness, he was so cute! I still love when he sings, "I'll be true to you." Remember when we used to say that? Daydream Believer was my first ever record and I still have it. I played it that Christmas about 7 gazillion times because my grandmother got me a sweater set instead of the Monkees album I asked for.
Then came David Cassidy. He was my true teen idol because I could read everything about him in all the magazines and cut out photos. I remember one time Scholastic magazine put a little tiny black and white photo of him in one of the issues and I took every one of those issues I could get my hands on from every classroom and cut out the little picture. I could not bear that someone would throw his photo in the trash.
