I've fantasized about doing it for the last 20 years or so and circumstances this year made it possible, really more of a necessity. We went to Seasons 52 and it was wonderful. They were packed and I was surprised that so many other families were celebrating their holiday at a restaurant. The staff kept coming by to check on the tables and we ended up chatting with them about how many people were having the Thanksgiving menu vs. ordering from the menu. Turns out almost all were having the turkey dinner and they had made 38 turkeys! Did anyone else go out for Thanksgiving?

There was just the two of us so we went to a local restaurant - it was busy but not too busy (meaning we didn't have to wait for a table) - it is called the Magnolia Room. It was delicious!

My dd worked. She is a waitress at a cafeteria style place. She gets refills and boxes. Made over $600 in tips. Great money for her college account. She walked 9.2 miles according to her phone. Lol!
Today I am making a turkey. My relatives never spend thanksgiving with us. We let her work and then have our meal the next day.

We went out for ramen. But we're Canadian and yesterday was. . . Thursday.

We have done it the last several years, but our niece hosted this year in her new home! It was lovely! (However, for any who might be interested, Cracker Barrel has a very nice traditional Thanksgiving meal!)

(However, for any who might be interested, Cracker Barrel has a very nice traditional Thanksgiving meal!) I noticed their full parking lot when I drove by. I’ll bet they make a good Thanksgiving dinner. A few month before I got married, I spent Thanksgiving in the hospital. My parents picked up 4 individual servings of dinner at a diner and brought it. It was very good. I have always said I would like to go there one Thanksgiving but in 25 years, I never have. LOL

We've done it in the past and after some of the rude comments by MIL I suspect we will doing it again next year.

DS works at Bob Evans and said every fridge and freezer was stuffed with thanksgiving. I'm eager to hear their final turkey count, I'm pretty boring like that. We're placing bets! ha

We have in the past. The only thing is that i find restaurant turkey dinners to be very salty.
We have also celebrated Thanksgiving in Vegas. You would be surprised how popular Vegas is for Thanksgiving. The Buffets are all packed.

DH picked up T'giving dinner meals for the two of us at Cracker Barrel and we had a quiet lunch together at home before I came to work at 2:30PM.
I work at a hospital and yesterday and today are just regular work days for me. I'm good with that, though. Time and a half plus sixteen extra hours of PTO. This year was DS and DIL's year to have T'giving with DIL's family and with my stepdaughter and her family every holiday is about her husband's family so no issues there.
And, it means I can be off for Christmas and we are going to spend a few days in Minneapolis with my sister and her family and then off to NYC for the rest of the week. WOO HOO! Can't wait!!!

This year DD hosted us at her apartment and it was lovely. However, on the way home I told DH that next year I thought we should just use the 4 day weekend and the 3 of us take a trip somewhere. With all of our parents gone, it ends up being a rather blah day with just the 3 of us. We are going to start looking at spots to visit next year for Thanksgiving.

Last year we went to Las Vegas for Thanksgiving and we had the best time. This year? Well, we should have not stayed home. SaveSave

We did! We went to a regular ol' restaurant with all the kids and MIL. Only DH ordered the full Thanksgiving dinner. We noticed several families there with very elderly members. We were seated in the bar area, and the National Dog Show was on all the TV screens - it was fun!

My DD, husband and I ate out at a restaurant yesterday but instead of celebrating with a Thanksgiving dinner, we had a big breakfast. It was a necessity because DD and her significant other both had to work double shifts yesterday. It was actually one of our nicest thanksgiving meals!! Perhaps a new tradition!!!

We didn't but my favorite thing to make for Thanksgiving is reservations! DH disagrees with me. Likely because he's not the one doing the lion's share of work for the holiday.

Sitting at the airport with a sack of sandwiches right now!

We did. Ft Rucker in Alabama has a restaurant on the base that presents a wonderful Thanksgiving buffet each year. The offerings are fabulous.

We have in the past. One year we were traveling and in a little town with no open restaurants so we ate vending machine food!
Yesterday we were staying at a sort of rustic mountain lodge with a very popular Thanksgiving buffet. We didn't eat there but the crowd was crazy! No parking anywhere near the buildings. We hiked to a couple of waterfalls and then cooked over a campfire grate at the pull-off beside the creek instead. It was perfect and we headed back to the lodge after the crowd left.

Yep, went to Seasons 52 for the third year in a row. It's wonderful. Our party was large enough (and reservation made early enough) that we got one of the private rooms. They make an awesome Thanksgiving dinner. And if you don't want a turkey dinner, you can order off the regular menu too.
I plan to keep up this tradition as long as possible!

We did this year as we have the past several years. It was a buffet at Perona Farms in Sparta, NJ. They have a wonderful selection of traditional Thanksgiving dishes along with a carving station. They also have a waffle and ice cream bar and fresh donuts for dessert. It was delicious and we had a great time.

We went to a nice seafood restaurant this year and had a massive, delicious bowl of cioppino.
We typically travel over Thanksgiving so most of our Thanksgivings are in in a restaurant. However, we never bothered to plan where to eat and just walk around until something is open. More than once I've found myself in San Francisco eating clam chowder in a bread bowl at Boudin Bread place in Fisherman's Wharf.
This year we left ds home, so I made a reservation. I think I will do this again next year. It's been lovely.
Oh, and I do a fauxgiving for my in-laws earlier in November, so we can take advantage of ds' school break to travel.

We didn’t eat in a restaurant but we did have everything prepared (catered) by Whole Foods. Shout out to Whole Foods...it was delicious. Everything!!! It was low stress and everyone enjoyed it. The plan was to go t a restaurant and then dh said he wanted to try the Whole Foods meal. Since he is the one that does all the Thanksgiving cooking (most of it) I deferred to him.
He says that next year we might try a restaurant and include a huge tip (way more then 20%) for our server.

How early is early enough? I saw a private room with a door a wine bottle lined walls. That would have been great since my mother didn't realize I was talking to her even sitting right next to her. Her hearing aids were picking up all the ambient noise and it sounded like nothing but static to her. Sounds like a lot of yummy thanksgivings out. I wouldn't mind trying a Cracker Barrel Thanksgiving.

We made our reservation in early October, with 11 people. The table seated 12. They won't promise you the room, but we've gotten it the past two years.

We did! DH and I and our two DS's ate at the Signature Room on the 95th floor of the John Hancock building in Chicago. It was AMAZING- we are so lucky that the weather was clear and the views were gorgeous.
I tell you what, though... I have never spent so much $$ on a single dinner in my life. Holy cow!

Yes. SO's grandma is over cooking and dishes. Usually we go to Mimi's, and it is always on the day before Thanksgiving. This year we went to Marie Callendar's last Sunday because that is the day that worked for everyone. No dishes to clean and no leftovers to take home from the restaurant but I was fine with that.

We went to Caribe Royale in Orlando for their Thanksgiving dinner buffet. It was delicious. We also spent 2 nights at their resort as a little mini vacation before school starts back on Monday.
