This was my first Thanksgiving going out (going away actually). It felt a little weird not to do it at home, but we liked it.
We did a casino buffet since we were away. It was good. BUT, INSANE. the buffet started at 3pm for dinner. We got in line at 4:15, and there was a 2.5 hour wait. I have a 10 year old, so it was not pleasant. We had no other plan or option though, so we decided to take turns standing it line.
The good ending of the story, is we travelled with another family, who was visiting family in the area (therefore, not eating with us at the buffet). They have big VIP status at the casino though, and she graciously used her pull to get us in once she heard our plight. We ate, and when we left, the family in front of us in line still had a good 20mins to go in line. I was feeling SUPER thankful for my friend!

Unfortunately, yes. My husband had to work all day. Our choices were Golden Corral and IHOP. I guess IHOP was the wrong choice. I"m pretty sure we ate a scab or something. We noticed AFTER we had eaten that DH's glass was filthy. This will not become our annual tradition!

We did it one year. All of us who do the majority of the cooking rebelled. So out we went...and it was lovely. The food was delicious, no one had to cook or clean. But there were no left overs, and no milling around mingling with family, and the table was long so you were pretty much stuck with the people adjacent to you rather than being able to give your brother a hard time at the end of the table. We had to be all grown up and on our good behavior. So we decided it was nice, but maybe not for us.

We made our reservation in early October, with 11 people. The table seated 12. They won't promise you the room, but we've gotten it the past two years. Good to know, thanks.
