I received them today. I tried one out briefly. The blue one I tried out had the same coverage a vibrancy as my blue zig clean color marker. I’m wondering if you can make your own mermaid markers by using a water brush and filling it with your reinkers. Instead of water. The mermaid markers have dye ink in them. If you can there are a lot of colors on the market to use.

I watched a review on YouTube and the mermaid markers are similar to the Zig markers. Do you have a preference?
I probably wouldn’t try to figure out how to make my own (too much work) but I’d be interested in seeing how it’s done.

I really haven’t used either one much. Not sure if both could be used together or not. I’ll give it a try. If it does work. I’ll just have more colors to work with.

I find the Mermaid Markers to be more like a water brush. I have only briefly tried the Zig clean colors markers, but as I recall the "brush" is a bit stiffer. The Mermaid Markers really are just like a paint brush tip. When mine run out I am planning on refilling them with ink made from Dr. Ph. Martins Radiant Watercolor ink. Using a coupon it seemed like buying the set of Mermaid Markers would cost about the same a buying that many water brushes. They are a bit tricky to use. I have been using them for brush calligraphy mostly so far.

Who goes around marking mermaids? That's just rude! Mermaids are our friends. The Weeki Wachee police have their eyes on you!

Oh I'm sure you can find YouTube videos that show how--or just put ink in a waterbrush. That said, I like the convenience of the mermaid markers, especially for travel journaling.Honestly, they are overpriced for what they are, but I just think of paying for the convenience of only having to carry the one pack of markers instead of brushes and a watercolor set.
