Just a happy little PSA for anyone looking for the typewriter. It was $99 and the ribbon was $5. 1887542 was the number for the aqua one and 1887543 was for the black typewriter.

I love the idea of them but that's still a high price point if they don't work well. The mixed reviews really have me on the fence. Anyone have any input to push me one way or the other?

Got my aqua one for Christmas last year...very happy. You do have to remember how old fashion typewriters work but I just used it for a layout. It looks really cute in my craft room.

Mixed reviews?
Called my store and they don't have it in yet. But they offered to call me when it shows up. Cool.

The Tuesday Morning by me only got the teal one in, but my Michael's store said they would price match so I can get the black one. I'm going tonight, we'll see if that works out. If not, I'll get the teal one.

My husband found the teal typewriter after calling a bunch of stores. He had to drive about 45 minutes away. I am happy to be getting it for Christmas!

I'd rather have an antique.

yes. do a search of previous topics on this typewriter and you will see. even at $99, it's not a great deal considering the shortcomings of this machine.

I like that you can use 12x12 paper with it which is what I mostly use. I have heard about some of the bad reviews but I have also heard just as many good reviews. So saying a prayer mine works.

Hubby just bought one for me for Christmas from Michaels. I told him about this, but he won't try to find it and take that one back! He's so stubborn! But I'm getting one for Christmas, so yay!

I think what you use if for (and how OCD/left brained you are) can determine your satisfaction. I would love it for 12 x 12 papers. To be able to type anywhere on a page would be awesome. As long as you know that the letters won't look like computer designed, I think most people would be happy.

I actually got the black one at Michael's last night for $85. The manager who said he would price match to Tuesday Morning, forgot to put a note on it for the cashier, so he gave it to me at 50% off instead.

I can't decide if I will get one or not. It's a good price but just not sure how much I would use it.

I can't decide if I will get one or not. It's a good price but just not sure how much I would use it. After sharing my doubts, I went and bought one a day later. Typical of my willpower. They had both mint and black. I debated for a while because I <3 the mint but decided to get black. I am still deciding if I should open it, though, just from things I've heard about the quality.

I bought one today too. I mentioned at the register that it had mixed reviews and the manager said no problem, keep your receipt and bring it back if you aren't happy.

I have two ladder shelves in my scrap room that are full. It will end up going on one of the shelves, but I am pretty sure this purchase will create a ripple effect and I will start rearranging everything.

None in stock or received to date here (according to the manager, who, oddly, seemed to be the only employee in the store during my brief visit today)!

Y'all are such enablers. I hadn't noticed this holds 12x12, that's cool. Now it makes sense!
I still will abstain since I have a regular typewriter, but I'll be tempted if I ever find one at deep deep freak discount.

I finally gave this a try tonight. I started with a practice sheet so I could get the feel of it. You have to hit the keys pretty hard to get a dark impression. Also, you can't assume it's a "normal" keyboard. Some of the symbols were not where I expected. I don't consider it a flaw; it's been a while since I've used an actual typewriter so maybe I'm just too used to computer keyboards. This image is from the actual layout. (I do know how to spell buddy. LOL) I like that I can type on a 12 x 12 piece of paper. It took some time for it to feed through at first. I'm not sure what's going on there. You definitely have to do some advance planning. I am not used to journaling before adhering anything. But it worked out here since I knew I wanted to journal directly on the page. This will be a question I have to ask myself in future before I get too far on the layout. If I type directly on the background paper, I'll have to do a different process. My biggest frustration is the uneven ink when typing. I found that I could go back and type over really light letters, so that helped. I think I'd be disappointed to pay full price for this. I want to use it for a few more layouts before I decide how I feel about the price I paid (at Tuesday Morning). So there are some thoughts for you based on my very limited experience.

My store has as least one of the mint colored typewriters. Did y'all see they are getting the WRMK multi-media craft sewing machine? It's in their ad for stuff that is being released today. $75

I don't consider it a flaw; it's been a while since I've used an actual typewriter so maybe I'm just too used to computer keyboards. The punctuation on my antique typewriter is odd, so maybe it's a typewriter thing. The comma is in the normal spot (and there are two commas printed on the button) but the apostrophe is shift-8 so I'm always making mistakes thinking shift-comma will be the apostrophe but it's just another comma... The @ symbol is on key with the cents sign (this keyboard doesn't have a cents sign...the c with a slash through it) down on the right bottom side. I haven't used a cents sign since about 2nd grade... time for a revival You do have to hit the keys really hard, I can type on a computer, but when I use my typewriter I pretty much only use my index fingers to hit the keys hard enough...but if you type fast then the keys get all jammed up so it's good to slow down... It does make me wonder how anyone managed to type entire novels on a typewriter... it must have taken a year just to type it out without mistakes.

I have an antique typewriter but it would be awesome to type on a 12 by 12 layout... Many many vintage typewriters have wide carriages that will hold 12" paper.

I still will abstain since I have a regular typewriter, but I'll be tempted if I ever find one at deep deep freak discount. I wouldn't take it even if it were free. Aside from the uneven pressure from the type bars, this "typewriter" is also notorious for having bad alignment and spacing issues.

Meaning, I am disappointed- there's no reason for that! It's not like it's a new technology!
