I'm trying to help a friend with her daughter's wedding invites. I've designed the front with PSE 10 and want to print on a precut custom paper size (4.5" x 6.5"), and for the life of me I can't figure out what setting I need to change to get the thing to print in the right place on the stupid paper! I'm sure I'm missing something really simple, but this is driving me NUTS!
I'm using an Epson WP-4530 printer, but I'm not sure if that matters. I have gone into page setup and created a custom paper size, and changed what comes up in the print dialog box to choose the rear feed and matte photo paper but it refuses to print in the right place. It looks like it should be correct on the preview, but what comes out is as if it's trying to print a letter sized page and only a corner of the invite prints on the custom sized paper. I'd really rather not set up multiple invites on a page if I can help it because I'm trying to make this as simple as possible to assemble and want everything to be centered right on the paper since this will be the front of the invitation. I've never had this problem with my older versions of PSE and this really has me stumped!
Can anyone help? They want to get these sent out next week, but at the rate I'm going they won't get out until the week before the wedding! Eeek! TIA!

I have NO idea, since I've never printed on a custom paper size, but if it were me, I'd set up the page specs on the actual PSD document, rather than in the print dialog box. So, configure the document at 8.5 x 11, just to keep it simple, and then experiment with placement on the canvas as you test printing. Here's something to try: create your art at 4.5" x 6.5". Flatten, save with another name. Then, go to Layer: New: Layer from background. Now, set your canvas at 8.5 x 11. Your image will appear dead center, and you should see the gray checkerboard in the background. Load your custom size paper, and try printing, moving the image around on the canvas until it prints accurately. It might take you a bunch of tries, but hopefully you'll get the image perfect. I have no idea if this is the best way or not, just what I thought of since your printer dialog doesn't seem to be helping.

Thanks for your response. FWIW, I set up the art in PSE at the finished size (4.5x6.5) on the same sized canvas which is what I've always done before in previous versions. Then I create a custom page size in the printer profile that I could pull up and select to print on in print setup and it always worked, everything always matched up. But this version of PSE has a totally different print dialog box that comes up and it doesn't give me any of those old (read: EASY!) options. Just frustrating. Okay, I messed with it some more. It turns out that the PSE print dialog box that comes up defaults to "center image" regardless of what page/ paper size is selected, and that's what was screwing everything up. I unchecked that, gave the top position a value of 0.00 and left the left position at whatever it defaulted to, and loaded the precut paper (centered) in the rear tray. Selected "Letter Size" for the paper size and "Actual Size" in the print size box up on the top right of the dialog box and finally got the dumb thing to print correctly, but what a hassle. I seriously don't understand why they had to make something that should be so simple into something so complicated! Thanks again for trying to help!

Thanks. I knew it had to be something dumb I was missing and it was. But it still would be a whole lot simpler and more intuitive if one could just set the print size and paper size to the same thing the way it used to be.
