I was thinking about doing wine and chocolates, now I’m second guessing myself. I’m open for ideas

We always do a gift card...usually Dunkin' Donuts. I figure they have coffee, food, and donuts, so fairly versatile.

Just gave her a Visa GC for her birthday. Will probably do the same for Christmas. She loves GCs. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) And if you are thinking of giving her wine, are you sure she likes wine? Just a thought.

I do find the idea of giving the postman a gift for any occasion very strange.

We seem to have a rotation of 3 or 4 regular postmen - I’d have to buy something for each of them 🙂 but that’s not something I want to start to be honest. It’s not the norm here I don’t think.

For the first time in ages, we seem to have a regular postman. I've seen the same guy for about 3 months now. But, I am still not getting him anything. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) My neighbors and I often joke about how we are the "orphan" route, we always have different mail carriers, and they usually come close to 5PM.

Maybe my carrier would be friendlier if I give her a Christmas gift. I get lots of Amazon packages she has to walk to my door and I feel like she views me as annoying. Do they make Mail Carrier Christmas Cards?

I have a regular UPS guy, who called Merry Christmas as he delivered a gift just now. He's the one I most feel like gifting.

I always give the postman a tenner. He is very helpful and always pleasant. Don't let anyone else know as it's against postal regulations to give money. At least it used to be. ETA: Since I have to often deliver neighbor's mail that ends up in my box, I'm not gifting anything this year. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/OrTI4SBmZ2ZYSFv6ag4f.jpg)

I have a regular postal carrier and have for 10+ years in different states. If I had rotating postal carriers, I wouldn’t do anything. But these ladies are amazing that I have had over the years. The one I have had for 3+ years texts me when I have a box, and she truly goes out of her way to take care of my mail. One day she forgot her lunch, and I was blessed to take her a tray of food. I love helping her in that way. It’s so fun to see the smile on her face.

That's a nice idea. We had a regular mailwoman for many years, but she changed routes a couple years ago. We always brought her out a cold bottle of water when we had hot days in the summer. We hardly ever order anything (lots of stores near us) so she probably appreciated that! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) I have been seeing a bit of the UPS lady as my kids have ordered some things recently.

You are in safe water if it is less than £30. Realistically, no-one is going to give them that much. I tip the chimney sweep, the coal man and the paper girl too.

Do they make Mail Carrier Christmas Cards? you could make her one! or just write a heartfelt note of gratitude and tape it to your mailbox. Heartfelt thanks for a job well done are always appreciated, I think. And if you want to add chocolate or a small g.c. to it, that's sweet too.

If mine could ever learn to read addresses correctly, and could get my mail actually IN my mailbox regularly, and delivered our mail before 7:00 in the evening, and if we even had the same one more than a month at a time....well when all that comes to pass I might think of getting something for that person.
Until then...nope.

I do find the idea of giving the postman a gift for any occasion very strange. It was quite common in days of old to give all your personal carriers a gift - postal, news paper, milk and any other (like a regular beautician). Growing up our family gave baked goods. As an adult and living in the various burbs our carrier changed so frequently, I didn’t find it appropriate since it seemed none lasted more than a few weeks/months. I use the post office box now that we’re rural. I always give the current post master a gift card. It’s not much, but let’s Her know that she is appreciated.

I'm also intrigued by the idea of a "regular UPS driver". I never see the same one twice. In fact I often don't see them at all. And we often have more than one UPS truck going up and down our street. And, we do not give a gift to our paper delivery guy (or gal....I have no idea actually). Although who knows...this year maybe dh will consider it since it seems we haven't had to fetch our paper out of the bushes lately, or from under the car, and we haven't had to call the Post circulation office to complain that we didn't get it at all. Maybe things are looking up.

I don't even like buying gifts for the adults in my family, I'm not going to expand it to random people.
I've never had a regular mail carrier. There seems to be a new one each week and they all suck.

I have a really efficient and nice mail carrier. She knows it takes me a while to get to the door, so she'll patiently wait if she has a package that needs my signature. I was contemplating giving her one of my Christmas baking baskets as well as a lottery ticket or two. I usually include a lottery scratcher for each person in the house when I deliver cookies. I missed the boat on that last year and was bummed. It's just fun thing to do.

My mailman SUCKS! If I give him a gift would he do his job better? I am constantly getting my neighbors mail and she gets mine. He’s dropped mail that the other neighbor found in his yard. And instead of setting packages on my covered porch he leaves them on the steps in the open and also in the rain.

We usually give him $20. We also give to the paper carrier, beautitician and barber. I also give to our church secretary.
