No, but to be honest, I have influenced him on local elections. I work in the public school system and he always asks me who I should vote for in school board/local elections. I have far more interest in politics than he does so he is more likely to ask me about issues and candidates. This in reverse. Dh was heavily interested in politics and the local vote would affect his job.

I voted maybe. For candidates or elections that I have followed or reasearched, we discuss—but the only way to sway me is with logical arguments. For local/state elections, my dh used to work for the state and would tell me some of the impacts of the different candidate plans. That’s the reason I voted maybe. Because he was way more personally involved and knew the details of issues and candidates, talking to him would make me consider updating my opinion.

I think I should also add that my DH has been swayed more by our younger DS. He graduated this past year with a history degree and is a social studies teacher. The kid is amazing at being able to calmly and logically explain things in a way that people who disagree with him like listening. Yeah, I know I am biased, but even my ultra conservative SIL and BIL ask him for advice. Between this, and his feelings on the current administration, DH is changing his voting registration after being a Republican voter for 34 years.
