has anyone here tried it? i feel like there is no way i will NOT move the letterpress element in my die cut machine LOL. she makes it look so easy!!!

I know what you mean, I have a tendency to get things inky that should be clean. Why not try blind embossing first? You just do the letterpress effect without ink. It can be a really beautiful effect, especially in person. And at the worst, all you do is waste some paper right?
