I will admit I was a Star Wars virgin. I've never seen a single one. But since I don't live under a rock I am familiar with most of the characters and some of the plots. Going in with fresh eyes, I really enjoyed this movie, much more than I ever thought I would. We got free tickets to the premiere and while we weren't interested in seeing the movie, we didn't want to pass up a fun evening out. ALL of us, DH and our 2 boys, loved it. I'm now on a mission to see them all. I've seen 2 others since Thursday and can't wait to see more to fill in all those gaps that I am missing. Oh wow - so interesting to hear from somebody who saw the movie completely cold!

While I kind of think it was a let down, I do think Rey is just an ordinary girl. I think that’s kind of the point of the movie. There is no last Jedi because they live on in regular ordinary people. Like the ending where the little boy uses the force to make his broom come to him. Exactly!! Rey is the literary concept of "Everyman" -- and it follows the backstory as well -- where did Anakin come from -- his Mother was a slave on that planet, yet he was full of "meridians"!! Anyone - Everyone can be a Jedi. And the story needs new blood and the "Jedi" lineage that we've been taught has died out. New Jedi need to come from someplaceAny Yoda told us -- that the power is everyone, Luke said it is available to everyone and Yoda said the books didn't "matter" -- All in all - I think they did a good job with a "re-boot", making The Force available to anyone who is willing to look inside and find it ... or the childish innocence that knows it.

Ahem... "midi-chlorians," not "meridians."

LOL Yes -- we aren't all that respectful of Star Wars jargon around here!! Odd, I know, for Star Wars nerds -- but I don't get bogged down in the details -- it is the big themes and how they are highlighted that I enjoy -- that and jumping to light speed! LOL!! Like: the light saber balanced between Kylo and Rey ... light and dark ..... being ripped in half ...... cool, a bit heavy handed, but cool none-the-less!

I think side trip with Finn and Rose was not only completely unnecessary but super annoying.
I thought the humor was childish. The milking scene was gross. WHY???
Super Leia flying through space was so dumb. Come on, she finally uses the force and it looks that stupid?! I wish they had just taken that oportunity to kill her off.
I liked the lightsaber battles, I liked the salt planet, I like how they handled Luke’s death. The ending saved it for me because when Finn and Rose were crashing around in the stupid casino place I was wanting to walk out. It was giving me prequel vibes big time.

That milking scene was so gross! Why was that even in the movie? An editorial decision was made to leave something like that in.
They should have used the many opportunities they had in this movie to kill Leia off Carrie did look rough in this film.
Overall, I felt this movie was only ok. The story was not tight enough and was all over the place.
