I bought this from Amazon for $13, so it might not be a true Teflon bone folder, but I have only had this a week, and scored maybe 20 card bases. Should the tip be bent like this?

I paid a higher price for my teflon bone folder. I have had it for several years now and mine is completely smooth.

I wouldn't have thought so. I've got a relatively cheap pink Papercraft one that's still in perfect shape after over 80 cards this year.

I have a scorpal one I've had for about 8 or 9 years that is still looking good. I'd return it.

No way. Looks like a counterfeit product to me.

I’d return it. I doubt it’s a true Teflon bone folder. Cheapest I’ve seen is $25 and I can’t bring myself to spend $25 on a bone folder... are they really that much better?

Did it get really warm? I have a plastic cutter type of thing for brownies that works great, but once I used it on brownies fresh out of the oven and the tip bent like that.

That’s weird. I’d say no bonefolder, even my old plastic one, should look like that.
I’ve never heard of Teflon bone folders either. My old heavy duty plastic one is still fine so I’m not in the market for a new one, just curious.

The Teflon bone folders are not supposed to leave that shine you sometimes get with regular bone folders. I, too, have not been able to justify 25.00 for a bone Fokker !

No! I'd return it. I have 2. One more expensive and one cheap. Neither have done that and they've been used a ton.

My craft room is kind of cold, so the bone folder wasn't warm.
I am going to return it. Amazon sent me a pre-paid shipping label, so I don't have to pay for return postage.
Thanks to everyone.

Yeah, it definitely shouldn't do that. It's great that Amazon is taking care of the return.
I splurged and got myself one many years ago and I do think it's worth the money, for what it's worth. I find that when I'm making a card, when I do the final fold and use the bone folder to reinforce that fold, the part of the bone folder that hangs out over onto the paper doesn't leave a mark like it did with my cheap plastic ones. I don't know if that makes any sense, it's kind of hard to describe, but I do really love mine.

It's not a bone folder if it's not made of bone.

Yes, the "bone" folders WILL leave a mark. I've taken care of that by using a roller to flatten the crease. One is rubber and the other is just plastic. Both work well. Best thing I've done in a while!
My crease tool that came with my ScorPal and ScorBuddy wore down faster than I expected. But I make a lot of cards AND I use the creasing tool to make lines to look like the siding on a house, etc. When I make popup box cards, you really crease a lot.
I finally decided that using my Fiskars Embossing stylus works best. I have all 3 sizes of double ended stylus so I just picked the one that works best for me. SO much better than the plastic tools.

Okay, sell me on the idea of getting the "real" teflon one? I only use the scor-buddy to score my card bases, nothing else. I don't make boxes, bags, or anything that would be scored and I don't add scoring to the card front for added texture.
Thanks.

I think the shape of your bone folder helps get better folds (i.e., nice crease, card is closed (more), no marks). Honestly I didn't think a bone folder made a difference until I got the Teflon folder. It's worth it IMO.

I learn so much from the refupeas! I had no idea a Teflon bone folder was even in existence. I'm still using the $2 bone folder I picked up at my LSS that closed 12 years ago. I can't imagine one should bend that easily, made of Teflon or not.

I've had my pink one (may be from WRMK... not sure) for years and never noticed any shine or it leaving weird marks on anything I make that requires scoring. I did get some $$ for Christmas and thought that I might bite the bullet and pick one up, but in all honesty, I'd rather spend $25 on other scrappy supplies.
