I took the tree down. I'm going through twinkle light withdrawal. I love the lights on (all white with a few strands of twinkle dispersed throughout) and told my husband I seriously considered leaving the tree up year-round and decorating it to fit the season so I could have the lights nightly. My mom had a friend when I was growing up that never took her tree down, but she didn't light it the rest of the year. My husband asked why I just didn't find another location for the lights. Duh...
The space really doesn't seem like it has a logical place for the lights. This space doesn't have a fireplace in it which would seem like the best place (mantle). We do have lighting above the kitchen cabinets (space is open to that area) but I wouldn't want twinkle lights up there.
Any suggestions? I'll probably get over it in a couple days, but I'd love ideas.

I have the fairy lights on a few things in the house. I have a super long strand I bought on amazon wrapped around my headboard, it has a remote and can change from twinkle to steady. In the living room I have a very large glass canister with decor balls from Pier One and Hobby lovby that has a strand of fairy lights in it. There’s also a strand on the den mantle.

I got rid of a ficus tree because I hated dusting it, but I always thought that would be fun to put twinkle lights on.

When we put away the Christmas decorations, we put up “winter” decorations—white lights and snowmen. Otherwise the house looks so plain.

I have white strands of lights up in our kitchen year round. My inspiration was Nigella Lawson's old cooking shows & she had strands of lights hanging everywhere in her kitchen.
I also have the long strands of fairy lights from amazon, as mentioned above. They are along 5 shelves on the wall in our kitchen too.

I have a dark corner in the living room. I took a set of 300 white icicle lights and hung them on a hook in the corner of the ceiling. It is a waterfall of light in the corner of the room. I liked it so much I hung a set in my bedroom. I will always have them in my home from now on.
I just took them the out of the box, put the plug end on the floor, stretched the line of lights up to the hook and let the excess hang back down. I didn't straighten them out or arrange them at all they were just kind of bunched together right out of the box. As they hung there they relaxed. Even in the daytime when they are off they look good.
I'd post a picture but my iPad photos are too big, they won't upload.

My daughter has two strings of fairy lights kind of swagged over her bed. Her bed is inset into an alcove, and we put three tiny nails in the wall right at the ceiling, one at the midway point and one at each end of the alcove. Then we just took one strand, swagged it from nail to nail and then did the same with the second strand. It looks so pretty!
I also have a huge long string of the twinkle lights from restoration hardware kind of bunched up and stuck inside a faceted glass terrarium. It's on my book case and looks beautiful, it's just this huge mass of tiny little lights.

I have icicle lights hanging above my buffet in my dining room. I leave them up all year.

I have them on the window in my art room year round. I have mini blinds which are always open, then the little white lights strung vertically in the window, about 2-3" apart per row. Then I have a sheer curtain on the inside so I don't see the wires during the day. They are on a timer for about 5 hours per day and I love the way they look from inside and outside the house.

I have a string of icicle lights up in the sunroom, hanging on the divider between the tall windows and the angled windows. Put them up one year for Christmas, and did not take them down. Just right for watching TV.

My daughter has two strings of fairy lights kind of swagged over her bed. I see a lot of people do this on insta while it looks pretty for the picture, I would be afraid of it starting a fire. Warm lights on a fabric headboard. I wouldn't feel comfortable with it.

I put a set of solar ones that I got from Amazon across the tulle canopy on DD’s bed. They have about seven settings, from solid on to varying patterns of blinking.
A friend of mine wound some around a floral garland that she got from Michael’s and hung it around her patio door. She also has a set inside a glass block that she uses as a nightlight in a dark corner of her living room.

I turn them off when I go to bed. They’re great for a reading light too.

Thanks! I’d love to see some pictures. I do have a set of the fairy lights in a vase thing by the entry door, but I can’t enjoy them unless I walk by. I think a few more sets of those will be a great option.

After her last Christmas, my grandma said that she didn't want to take the tree down, she loved the lights and how it looked in her living room so much. My mom & aunts redecorated it with seashell and beach themed ornaments which was my grandma's other great love. She lived for 8 more months and I've often thought about how much joy that tree probably brought to her. It's really the same concept as "use the good china" and "dance like no one is watching," right?
My daughter always has fairy lights in her room and I think this year we finally found enough battery powered ones that I'll leave them up in the living room as well.

You can easily hang them high enough that they wouldn't touch your headboard if you're uneasy about it.

Your lights are really pretty! Does your name start with the letter A? I have a 8" Lighted Marquee Sign Letters with the letter A on my night stand. Now that I think about it I don't know how my lights would hold on to my fabric headboard???

PolarGreen12 I gave up and ran it through Photoshop on my laptop. This is not a great picture but you get the idea. They usually go all the way to the floor but at the very bottom the lights are out. It is time to change out the strand because they also get yellow after a while. I change the strand about every eighteen months. I usually buy a few sets every Christmas so I have spares on hand. Also the bows are only on because it is Christmas.

You could just swoosh them from one top corner to the other and let the swag hang down the center.
