Hey everyone! The leftover Chicken Tortilla soup was really good last night ... at least my dh does consider soup to be a meal I made beef soft tacos for dd#2 and so she and I will eat the leftovers of that up for lunch today I'm going to make some kind of "big salad" for dinner because dh has been complaining that I haven't made one lately It is eleventy below zero here in Calgary so I'm not looking forward to going to the store but it has to be done Here is exactly what it looks like in Canada right now What is on your menu tonight?

leannec , great meme. I'm still laughing. hop2 , I think we need to send a marching band w/a huge banner that reads "you're divorced, idiot". I'm going to make stew in the instant pot. Everyone will be home for dinner tonight. I should make some frozen meals, because I'm having surgery on Wed. Ya, I know...blah blah blah. I had the trial a few weeks ago and this week I'll get the actual device implanted. It's outpatient, but it comes w/a week of no activity and then up to 2 months to recover. For 2 months I won't be able to load or unload the dishwasher, vacuum or anything that requires lifting or bending or twisting. Oh, poor poor me. So, I could be nice and have some meals made for my eaters. Have a relaxing and fun day.

I didn't end up cooking last night so have one Hello Fresh and 2 Blue Apron dinners to choose from tonight. DD doesn't like shrimp and is working late tonight so I'm going with the BA Buttery Shrimp & Kale. I have to say these dinners are kind of fun to unwrap and so easy to make I'm thinking about ordering one week a month for the kids to get in more experience making meals. They are kind of lazy cooks. leannec, love the meme. An Alberta friend posted one on FB that said: Canada: Come for the culture and scenery. Stay because your car won't start.

I am going to have the left over turkey soup, dh will have a sandwich and dd will have turkey, pineapple, and a baked potato.
The stock I made in my new stock pot created enough stock for 2 meals! So the other half is in the freezer.
Tomorrow will be our last turkey meal. Four days of turkey in a row is enough lol

Dh is in charge of dinner tonight. There are only three meals in his dinner rotation: Take-out #1, Take-out#2, and little diner down the street. None of those involve work on my part so I'm happy with whatever option he chooses. When I opened yesterday's thread I had absolutely no idea what I was going to make for dinner. I made it as far as scrapmaven 's post, yes, the very first post of the thread, and got my inspiration.....we had tacos for dinner last night. My family and I owe you one, scrapmaven !

For DH, one of the steaks he got for Christmas and a baked potato. For me, whatever I feel like (and have remaining WW points for). I took down Christmas this morning and that's always a little sad. I missed the lights on the fireplace mantle so much, I went to TJ Maxx and found two beautiful green/blue glass jars. I picked up some battery powered LED lights and put them in the jars. It looks lovely. I'm ready to go out for another walk. We are 50 and sunny today; tomorrow will be cloudy and only 38 Then again, some of your up north might be thinking 38 is a bit balmy. scrapmaven. I'm guessing this procedure will be a more permanent device for the one that worked so well a few weeks back?

We went out for breakfast, shopped, tried to visit my Dad, shopped some more and are now going home to enjoy the empty house while dd and dgd are out. leannec dh is teasing me because I wonāt walk 30 feet from the car to the store without gloves on. Itās 16 and snowing here.

leannec it is bright and sunny outside today and 4C outside. I would say that's pretty nice! It's not raining either. Tonight we are having sukiyaki with DS and his girlfriend. It isn't that exciting, but it should be good. I bought a LOT of meat for dinner. I mean a LOT LOT. We will be full tonight. I got 2 lbs of meat, a cho of tofu (block?), Chinese cabbage, leek, shirataki noodles, udon noodles, and sauce. I use raw egg because I am from Kyushu and DS will use sesame sauce.

You ladies need to kick my butt and get me back into meal planning. We went home for Christmas weekend then came back to a few busy work days. A crock pot of taco soup carried us through.
We are on our way home from UAB Hospital. One of my dearest friends (since about age 5) received a new liver. š Hereās to a happy and healthy 2018 for us all!!!

Ha Ha Leanne. Love it! I made a chicken lentil soup in a tomato base with cauliflower, green beans, carrots, onion and celery. My body is saying "uncle!" to all the crap food and wants vegetables. Stay warm everyone. (Unless you're in the other hemisphere )

Have some leftover spaghetti sauce in the fridge so it's pasta night for us with a salad and garlic bread. Too bad we finished off the Watergate salad... now I'll have to have ice cream for dessert.

My stepmum brought over a dozen eggs (they have chooks) and some cream that she had left over from Christmas day, so I decided to make a quiche. I don't make quiches very often and looking at the recipes just confused me because the amount of cream and eggs in each one differs quite a bit, so I just decided to wing it. I made the pastry from scratch and also made some caramelised onion. In the quiche I put the onion, cheddar cheese, roasted pumpkin, chorizo, bacon, perino tomatoes - ooops forgot the mushroom! - and the eggs and cream of course. It was bloody delicious, even if I do say so myself.

For our dining pleasure this evening we will be enjoying leftovers. We have scalped potatoes and ham and ham and bean soup to finish up.
I went out this morning after donning my winter bogs, my fuzzy lined hat with the ear muffs, and my big hands winter heavy gloves, and of course my heavy winter coat to scoop snow off the back step and sidewalk thinking it was all of twelve degrees out......when I came back in and looked at the temperature it was -11 degrees......geez that's cold....
Happy Saturday Everybody!

Oh, I forgot to mention..... I also cooked some salmon mornay - for the DOG! He has been turning his nose up at his canned food lately, he's nearly as fussy as my son or leannec's kids! So I decided to whip him up some salmon mornay. He wolfed it down! A funny story..... a number of years ago I made some tuna mornay for DSO and I, and a separate one for our old dog (without the onion and mustard and using risoni instead of white rice). The next day my SIL dropped my nephew off at our house on her way to work, as DSO was babysitting. DSO gave SIL some of the tuna mornay leftovers to take to work for her lunch. When I got home from work that night I asked DSO where the dog's food was. Yep, he'd given it to his sister LOL! I just had to ring her to tell her that she'd eaten the dog's food. Not because I wanted her to feel sick, but because I was embarrassed in case she thought that's how I cook. She did comment that she thought the dish was quite bland!

I made white bean soup with the ham bone. Froze part of it and dh and ds ate the rest for dinner. I had salad leftover from last night (we ordered pizza). Hopefully I ate enough bread to "cushion" the salad so it doesn't tear up my innards! Also, Canadian peas, we love you, we belt out your national anthem at sporting events, we think your country is beautiful- BUT quit sending us your weather!! We normally don't have weather this cold until mid January. Definitely not in December! We've been stuck in the deep freeze for more than a week now!

Ground beef soft tacos.. minus tomatoes since that was the one thing I forgot when I went shopping this am lol.
I grabbed tortillas, salsa, black beans, lettuce, avocado, cheese and sour cream! Oh well, we will survive without fresh tomatoes I suppose š

leannec....love the meme!!! scrapmaven....Prayers and ((( hugs )))! farmdpea.... I hope your friend does well !!! AussieMeg....your quiche looks SO yummy, and LOL at the doggie tuna mornay story. I made chicken tortilla soup; no recipe, I just sautee chicken breasts and onion with cumin, add cilantro, chicken broth, and diced tomatoes with chiles. We like it with fresh avacado, tortilla chips, and montery jack cheese on top.
