I am going to continue working on my MAMBI Happy Fitness planner and starting a MAMBI daily planner with budget insert. I had a lot of unexpected spending and need to work on my debts on 2018. Anybody else working on planners? Would love to see pictures of your planner.

I would like a planner this year more for putting inspirational sayings etc. For the next few months I won't have much in the way of plans due to my circumstances with Spencer.

I'd like to find some ideas about using my planner for a diet and fitness plan. I think I'll use an exercise tracker, but I'm not sure about a food tracker. I don't think I'll bother to record everything I eat. Maybe some other food related function that I'd actually want to use? but I'm not a meal planner, and I keep my grocery list somewhere else. So, what else is there?
Realistically, it'll just be exercise, I think. And of course my calendar and my to-do list. And I have a section for bills that are due.
Thanks for starting the thread. I'm interested to see how other people actually use their planners and not just how they decorate them.

I am using a bullet journal for 2018. I found it on Pinterest. I like it because I can include whatever I want because I'm making it myself. I have an index so I can find stuff, mood tracker, budget tracker, Books I've Read tracker, sleep tracker, and my one little word in it so far. I also like it because its a creative outlet. I got it for myself for Christmas. In that short amount of time my hobby has grown to include calligraphy and doodling. So much fun and I feel so organized!

I started a Bullet Journal last July and absolutely love it. It solves my problem of not using a planner consistently. Some months I go all out and have trackers for nutrition, supplements, etc., and other months (like when I'm on vacation) I don't bother with them at all, I don't even have a monthly calendar/to do list that month - and it doesn't matter! I just go to the next blank page and fill it out when I'm ready. I don't have any more guilt or angst about having half-filled in planners. I also keep a page for books read this year, & books I want to read (great to keep track of those recommendations I read about online). Otherwise, I try not to keep too many year-long trackers because I know I won't keep up with them - and then I just have more guilt, lol. This year I would really like to make it prettier - it was very utilitarian last year. I'm trying to learn calligraphy and doodling, as well - this hobby really does take us in all sorts of directions, doesn't it? SaveSave

I always buy my planners to run August thru July to follow the school calendar. My brain just works that way vs. breaking up the kids school year into 2 different planners. Right now I am using an Erin Condren planner.

I've used a spiral bound academic planner that I buy at Staples or OfficeMax since I was in high school. I've totally gone down the travelers' notebook rabbit hole this year, so I'm starting a TN style planner for 2018 that I got at Target. It's by May Designs. It comes with the TN folio/cover and two calendar inserts (Jan-June and July-Dec). I also got some blank notes inserts to go in it as well.
It was around $20, so I'll see how I like it and then if I decide to continue, I'll get or make some academic calendar inserts for myself for next year. I'm kind of test driving this one to see which size I like best before I invest in a Chic Sparrow or a real Midori, etc.

I am going to try a bullet journal this year. It's going to be pretty basic: to do's, monthly calendars, maybe expense tracking. I like the idea of book lists so I think I will add that, too. msliz I'm also signed up for Cathy Zilske's Fit 2018 class which is about tracking healthy habits in a 6x8 album. I'm debating whether it would be better to combine her ideas into my bullet journal or keep them separate. link

I do not need a planner for our appointments but I do keep track of my diet and fitness goals. I have tried a couple of different things over the last two years and know now that a MAMBI fitness album is not for me - too restricted and not motivating - sometimes I do like to track my food intake but sometimes, like on vacation or around Christmas, it's just not worth it for me and then I end up with all the empty space which leaves me with guilt. Also I do not like to repeat the same over and over again. What I do track every day though is my weight and my exercise. What has worked for me is either have a separate small journal, which I make up myself (the creative aspect gets me motivated), including little stamps of a scale and water glasses, I also track what kind of exercise I did and the miles I walked. I keep it all together in one of those little plastic bags and it's right where I sit most of the time. The other thing, that worked for me, especially for food tracking (and as an additional way to log my exercises when traveling) is the free My Fitness Pal app ( msliz this might work for you too?). For this year I have decided to use the 1$ Studio Calico planner to track my exercises. It'll be bigger than my usual one but I think I can make it work. Now it just need to ship and I'm ready to go

She has charts with little boxes to check off, and I think I would feel discouraged if I wasn't checking all the boxes every day. I think, for me, it's just better to focus on my accomplishments rather than my misses. I have been giving a little more thought to a food tracker though, and I think I'm going to keep a travelers notebook or some kind of bullet journal in my kitchen to track food, water, and daily exercise. I don't want to do that in my general planner because I don't want my important papers (bills, etc.) anywhere near food, plus I don't want to be lugging it back and forth between rooms. DD will be tracking everything on her phone, but I prefer paper, and I think a TN or a bullet journal would work nicely, something small that won't take up space on my counter top. Thanks for all the ideas, everyone! ETA: lakritze, we posted right around the same time - sounds like we'll be approaching it in a similar way! Good luck to all of us wannabe losers!

I am using a MAMBI planner again. I tried their financial inserts but they did not work for me. I just use lined paper in a bound notebook to keep track.
I do write when bills are due and when I paid in my weekly spreads.
I also use the scale stickers and steps stickers in my weekly spread too.
This is my third MAMBI planner. LOVE them.

Even though I use Evernote for overall work planning, I also use an 8-1/2 x 11 calendar planner, just so I have a written plan for the week laid out in front of me. It's all in pencil, not pretty at all, but it's functional.
I'm thinking about trying bullet journaling for personal stuff – creative, home, diary. I'm a chronic list maker, task outliner, thought organizer. It might be helpful to have it all in one place, written down, instead of swirly around in my head constantly.
With that last statement, I have just talked myself into it, to give myself some peace of mind. Seriously, that stuff in my head needs a better place to go!

I did that when my ds was TPN Dependent and had a CVL Broviac line. He was on several iv infusion meds plus tapering up and down, saline flushes, and then tpn runs plus medical formula intake and weigh ins. It made it easier to keel everything written down in a binder so I could take it to peds GI and TPN clinic appointments or referrance it when needed or take it when he was admitted for line infection or site infection or gi infections. Some meds had to run separate even though he had a double lumen cvl. They would interact so I was able to keep track of everything. We do something similar for dd (aspergers) to keep track of school stuff. I say go for it!

I use a single planner. I use it to keep track for updating my project life. I usually update PL in quarterly increments so my planner corrals all my activities, social media posts, photos, etc. I prefer paper to electronic for my record keeping. I used a Plum Planner for Jul 2016-Dec 2017 but it’s way too big. This year I bought a small planner from Target about the size of a standard Moleskin.

For some reason I want one of those planners from Michaels. I don't know what I would use it for. I Have my everyday one. I'm not into decorating. But I want one of those planners. Until I can convince myself I have a need for it I am not going. I thought maybe for scrappy stuff but really I don't need that.

I bought a printable, editable school planner for last year - it fit with our school calendar (which is not M-F), and it had some bonus features I liked a lot, since it was made for music teachers. I could print out the pages I wanted, so I didn't waste paper or have to flip through useless pages in a preprinted planner. I left it at school, because it was a little bulky to haul back and forth - which helped my work/life balance, I must say. I used it religiously and LOVED it until about December, when things got hectic. I'm used to having lessons stored and searchable(!!!) in my computer, and that really didn't work with paper. I did love the layout, and I could "digest" my week better by having it graphically laid out on paper. I wish I could keep up with both the written and the electronic versions, but ain't nobody got time for that. The rest of last year was kind of a mishmash between paper and electronic planning. Although my classes were fine, my record-keeping was shot to hell, since it was all divided. I am back to electronic planning for this year.
