Hello! DD11 and I are going to NYC to celebrate her 12th birthday over a long weekend in February - Friday through Monday evening. We will be staying at a newer hotel with AMAZING reviews on the edge of Chinatown - and plan to see the CNY parade which is on her actual birthday - so we'll hang out in Chinatown that day. (Celebrating the Year of the Dog, and she was born in the Year of the Dog.) Other days we'll be doing a Broadway play, Mass @ St. Patrick's Cathedral, 9/11 memorial, Statue of Liberty and other sites on the Hop On/Hop off bus. We live in MN so the cold doesn't stop us.
How should we get from and to JFK from our hotel? I'm not sure I want to do the subway with our bags (certainly open to using it other times.)
Any other suggestions for food or fun near where we are staying in Chinatown?
Thank you!

You have always been a part of the heist. You're only mad now because you don't like your cut.

It sounds like you have a pretty tight and fun schedule! I would do Uber from the airport. Just my preference, but there is public transportation. You can do AirTrain to the A subway line right to Canal street which is in the heart of Chinatown.

I *love* Uber in NYC. So easy. I hate being on the subway/trains with lots of luggage, so I always use Uber now. Have a fabulous trip!

We always Uber if we have luggage. Also after a play, as it ends late.

I would Uber/Lyft. Might be more $$, but worth it. Hope you have an awesome trip!

I take a yellow cab from JFK to my hotel in the financial district. It’s generally about $63 with tolls and tips. It’s a flat rate, but tolls can vary and then tips.
I take an Uber back to JFK and the price is very similar. I prefer the cab into the city because I can wait in the warm terminal and not have to walk out to the island and do the Uber license plate hunt. Not, that it’s difficult...it’s just slightly easier to cab it.

We took a cab from JFK into the city and used Uber to head back.
Sounds like you have planned a great birthday weekend!
