We are having our traditional NYE appetizer menu. Starting at 6pm, DH serves one dish per hour.
Tonight’s menu includes: Smoked salmon on blinis, with Swedish Lachs sauce Prawn salad Pate with a Swedish relish Mushroom soup with braised beef cheek Fresh pasta with truffles Cheese and crackers
All of this will be accompanied by champagne.
At this point, we have eaten the first 2 courses, and #3 will be in about 15 minutes. We will finish the first bottle of bubbles with that.

Happy New Years Eve. I'm making chicken stew in the IP. Dh made chicken fried rice and a bok choy recipe last night. Today is cooking day. I'm going to prep some meals for the week, TBD. I'll post my menus later. I love Peanuts. Thanks for the meme, leannec. Have a joyful day. Go team!

I’m eating what they’re serving! Dh and I are checked in and watching football until later when we’ll nap and get ready for the festivities! We brought the ingredients to make some cocktails so we’ll have one or two later. Happy 2018 tribe!

I am making lobster thermidor, large shrimp, scallops and Caesar salad. DS wants my homemade croutons so I said I would make them for him (they are really good!) and an Italian bread, and for dessert I am not sure what yet.
Then when I go over to BFF's house we will continue eating because we can. I am bringing a 7 layer dip and then cupcakes for midnight. There will also be wine. I am staying the night at her house because I don't want to drive home and I also want to have a good time.

Happy anniversary KelleeM! I am not planning any dinner tonight. We are going to my sister's house tonight to celebrate. I am going to make taco dip and meatballs.

We must have started simultaneous threads! Not sure what's for dinner ~ we are very laid back on New Year's Eve ~ did all the crazy stuff when we were younger. We'll be asleep before the ball drops here so we'll watch it in NY. Happy New Year everyone ~ here's to a wonderful 2018!

OK, KelleeM and sueg have the most impressive New Year's Eve menus thus far. We are staying in and having a traditional holiday type meal: turkey and dressing, green beans, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie. I made the mashed potatoes last night and just took the pie out of the oven. This will be my first time doing the turkey breast in the IP...hope that goes well. For now, we are both watching football and each of us has a cat on our lap. I hope everyone has a warm and safe NYE and a blessed 2018.

scrapmaven...this has become our traditional anniversary celebration (our first anniversary was while I was in the midst of chemo misery). Even though we’re only celebrating our fifth anniversary we’re pretty much old married people!! Being alone with dh is the best gift. He’s watching football while I Pea!!

I'm completely unprepared for NYE. Originally the kids had plans so I thought DH and I would go to a movie and for sushi, but the kids are both going to be home and I feel like I should be doing something. We are heading out for dim sum right now and discuss our options. KelleeM you are inspiring me to look at a hotel dinner & dance for next year.

I'll be fixing Reuben sandwiches, chips, carrot sticks (that's the healthy part) for DH and I. DS is having friends over so they will have cheese pizza, cookies, chips and all the carbs/sugar in the world!
Happy New Year for all!

KelleeM you are inspiring me to look at a hotel dinner & dance for next year. This celebration is so well done and worth every penny. We live about a half hour away but would never drive on NYE. My suggestion is to get friends/family to join you so you fill a table.

Nothing special happening here tonight... we'll probably make do with breakfast for dinner while we catch up and OD on Blacklist (what a great show!) Then we'll crack open a bottle of bubbly to bring in the New Year while we watch the Times Square ball drop. Happy New Year, everyone!

Happy Anniversary kelleem. Looks like a fun evening.
DH made reservations at a place not far from home. They have a few bison options so he’s excited. There are also plenty of seafood options for me.
Happy New Year!

Ok so as I posted In the other thread I didn’t know what we were doing for dinner. Now, DD is now home from work & wants to have dinner out. So we will go to a local Asian restaurant. She did drop off Gatorade to Ex after work to. Lol

I just had leftover Pakistani rice with beef/lamb. I haven't figured out which it is yet. It was a little spicy I would say a 3 on the spicy scale so nothing too intense. The other spices my friend used to make it are divne. It was just so good!
DS' girlfriend isn't feeling well today. I am not sure what is wrong other than she doesn't feel well. DS said he had it under control. I believe him. I feel badly for her.

My 20ish year old self would be horrified by my 50ish year old self's New Year's Eve plans.
I am going to nibble my way through boring snacks and more than likely be asleep by 10.
Tomorrow, on the other hand...traditional New Year's Day food. Black eyed peas, greens...you know. All the good stuff.
And chili. Tomorrow will also be the getting ready for work day so I will need to do a little prep for the week and y'all...it will be our kind of cold down here, so chili and soup all week.

bc2ca - I love your ideas! Thanks so much. Keep them coming. I'll take any and all. I especially love the idea of bringing something fun that they'll be able to run and play with when we make stops. Dh wants to go I5 on the way down and I know there are quite a few nice rest stops along the way. I was thinking about printing all the kids a map of the drive and have designated things to do or open (like a new toy, coloring book, ect) at different towns, ect. Dh is at work and still isn't feeling great, but is at least feeling better. The boys and I are still healthy especially with school starting back up on Tuesday. I'm not sure what's for dinner yet. I think homemade waffles with whip cream and blueberries.

sueg, I want to jump into your photos. It all looks so delicious. I went on a cooking frenzy. Aside from the soup and stew that I made for the week, I decided to make Chicken Parm for dinner. It's a family favorite and it is NYE. At least the guys have plenty of food for the coming week and can do take-out a couple times, as well.

I had lobster shells in the freezer which I boiled to make lobster stock for the lobster dish. I just ran to the store and bought a block of tofu and i am making fancy miso soup for breakfast tomorrow. I usually just make it with iriko (Japanese anchovies) and it tastes good but using real fish stock is well real and it will be really good. It will be my take on osechi ryori which means New Years food. I am not making any of the weird stuff. Just good miso soup. DS said he didn't want rice, GF didn't want rice and my dad doesn't want rice so I am not sure what else to make if anything. Probably don't need anything else. I told them I would make it when I get home tomorrow morning around 10 am.

The winter finale was Can't wait for it to start up again. Having just recently discovered this show from my son and ddil, we're only half-way through the third season. This role was made for James Spader - and it has the best writers ever! I usually avoid spy/intrigue-type stuff like the plague, but this show is addictive!
