I need to start but I'm afraid my desire for sugar and carbs just can't be controlled. I downloaded the podcast and will listen to that.

mellowyellow you have to put an '@' in front of her screen name to tag her. Thanks! Newbie here! You're welcome! Also, the person's visible name doesn't always match their user name, like yours. When I type @tigermom12 it doesn't tag you. So I went to your user profile and found bearkat12, that's the name someone has to use to tag you. So, if the tagging doesn't work, check the spelling, then check their profile by clicking on their name.

I recently ran across this video. There's more to the "5 Second Rule" if you want to look into it, but the real takeaway from the video (for me anyway) was making a list of reasons that you are drawn to eat (or not exercise or whatever) and then creating a "If...Then..." list. Make no mistake about it - even with surgery, making healthful eating choices can be a struggle. As I shared previously, I did have surgery in August specifically due to a couple of health issues that just would not resolve with medication and diet (there's a whole genetic change immediately after certain types of weight loss surgery, but that's a topic for another thread). I'm happy to say that the health issues resolved immediately and I have lost weight (although somewhat slowly because I was on the very, very low end of the BMI and only qualified because of the medical issues). But it's still hard. Making the right choices - in the right amount - is still hard. Don't ever think that someone who has had surgery doesn't struggle as well. But mainly, I wanted to share the video because I really found it helpful. Being forced to think about the times that are hard for me and then physically put a "If . . . Then . . . " plan on paper has really helped give me a roadmap to refer to when my brain says it wants that snack in the middle of the day. Mel Robbins - 5 second rule

Tammiem2pnc1 - Here is Gin's blog She has a couple of books out - Delay, Don't Deny and Feast Without Fear, and a couple of FB groups - Delay, Don't Deny and OMAD. Lot's of support in the DDD FB group. Thank you so much for recommending this to me! I've been pretty much OMAD for the past 3 weeks and I feel great! Down 8 pounds and overall feel so much better. I started at 16:8, but by week 2 it's more 20:4. I can't believe how easy this is to follow. I also gave up all soda and drink mainly water, I will do flavored sparkling water during my window.

I've been on WW for 3 weeks now and have seen very minimal weight loss and I've found myself struggling to stay on track. I'm someone who needs accountability. I've started a little notebook to track my triggers. I'm uncomfortable seeing them in writing. But that's exactly what I think I need!

One thing I KNOW I need to do is exercise. I hate to exercise. I know the key is finding something we like to do for exercise. i've never found that yet. I did join our local community center which has a good gym, so now I just need to get there. Which is the problem because I don't have time to go there before school, and I don't have the desire to go there afterwards. Yeah, excuses excuses. I just need a new mindset and I haven't figured out how to get that yet. I do much better if I find something fun to do that is also exercise. Go roller skating, hike to a waterfall, take up geocaching or letterboxing, etc

I should have bumped this when I responded to your post this morning gar! So, how has everyone being doing since the first of the year? As I said on the other thread, I’m losing slowly and steadily since joining WW. I’m down 1 pounds (gained .4 last week). I have a goal I’d like to reach by my birthday on the 18th...it’s totallydoable and in order to do it I decided to forego my usual cheat meal on Saturday night. I ate a decadent cupcake yesterday at a family event but offset it by eating two big plates of salad.
