He is a state representative in Kansas, fortunately not in DC. But we do need to remember him in the future. We should also remember the tax paying African American citizens of Kansas. Why the hell should they have to pay their hard earned money (which they make less of simply because of their skin) for representation that looks like this? When I mentioned this in the " Should America Say Sorry" thread I was accused of being entitled and wanting "something for nothing". Lazy African narrative all over again. We are literally funding our own mistreatment. Maybe everyone, including Black Americans, should go out and vote! They should also be aware of who they are voting for and what s/he stands for!

Part of the problem is that if we didn’t already know this, the past year has taught us that racism is appealing for a segment of voters—it doesn’t just fail to repel them, it motivates them to vote. Gross.

Without taking into account the history African Americans and voting or even addressing present day voter suppression, you should know that the problem isn't black people not voting or black people voting uninformed if thats what you meant to imply by the above. If the solution lies in black votes why were the margins so close between Roy and Doug or 45 and Clinton?

Gross. *sarcasm* But lets place the blame at the feet of black citizens. What would happen if an elementary teacher felt this way about African Americans? What about a cardiologist, or social worker? Racism has victims. I'm often accused of playing victim but when will someone admit whats happening here is wrong THEN actually do something to bring about change?

O.M.G. I suppose one positive of the shit show that is Trump and his ilk, they are showing us who they are in droves. If there is any time appropriate for a spreadsheet, it is this. Put these bigots on a list and be sure to get them out of & kept out of any office. This shit is not OK. Nor is it normal.

WE should all be very happy that Black Americans did go out and vote in Alabama and they were far better informed than the many who voted for Roy Moore!

It goes without saying all Americans should go out and vote. It should also go without saying all Americans should be committed to finding a solution to crap like this instead of skirting responsibility. The way you worded what you said did suggest you wanted to assign some blame to black voters in Kansas as if my quoted text said I think black people should just stay home during election season and wait for their oppressors to decide to be better people.

As a middle American, I have to wonder if you know this is not the solution. Kansas has 5.9% African American population according to the 2010 census data. Every black person in the state could show up and it won't matter if the huge majority white population votes for the racist in a statewide election.

Black people only make up 14% of the population across the US. They can't vote down the racists by themselves anywhere except in a few locales. We white people are going to have to quit voting for racists, too (see: Alabama).

I at no time said that Black Americans were responsible the state if our Country's situation. I stated that all ALL Americans should vote and know who they are voting for. I did day somewhere back there that we should all be happy that Black Americans stepped up for ALL of us in Alabama. They were brave beyond compare. I have not implied anything. I am and have been straight with my comments. I have never attacked anyone on this board ever, but some here today have no problem with accusations against me! I am not stupid, guess not a stable genius either, but I do ok.

Let's not start the in-fighting just yet, ladies - we can save that for the 2020 primaries.

Respectfully, when you say things like “everyone, including Black Americans,” you immediately categorize black Americans as somehow “other.” Perhaps you didn’t intend it that way, but consider that language choice and try to see why it is problematic. Why wouldn’t black Americans be included in “everyone?” Why would you need to distinguish them at all? I’m not attacking you. I am asking you to consider your choice of words here.

I’ve been saying that for years. Vote people vote! It’s 👏🏻 Not 👏🏻 Black 👏🏻 People’s 👏🏻 Problem 👏🏻 To 👏🏻 Solve 👏🏻! No it’s definitely not. But still the inner message that everyone needs to step up & vote. Voter turnout in 2016 was pretty abysmal. In my state specifically no one votes. It’s SO frustrating!

And I hope you walk away considering that not only should we not be held responsible but that we also couldn't challenge these very dangerous racist stereotypes politicians spout off alone. The gall! And just like the asshole in AZ he is spreading these falsehoods so when some Police department goes to lock up 60 black people behind 1 ounce of cannabis society barely bats an eye. It's conditioning. That's why cops full of adrenaline go and choke the life out of black man selling cigarettes but get shot in the line of duty because they walk into a domestic violence situation involving a white man with no guns drawn.
