If you use a Cinch Binding Machine, where is the best and most economical place to purchase the binding wires?
I just got a Cinch at Joann's. While I was there I picked up a few packages of the Heidi Swapp Notebook binding wires. They were rather pricey! Plus they are 1" and I'd like some smaller ones to try, particularly in white.
I've be searching the internet for the We R Memory Keepers wires and I've spotted a few sources, but I've also been wondering if other brands such as the Zutter Owires (they seem to be cheaper) really will work. There seems to be a lot of conflicting reports. Some say they don't, some say they do, but are a lower quality.
I did try the machine out on scrap paper last night and it punched like a dream. There was some residual oil around the punched holes, but I think I finally got that cleaned.
I'd appreciate any "real world" purchasing experiences and any hints or tips.
TIA

Several years ago I stocked up on the larger size binding wires. At that time they were kind of hard to find. I've purchased Cinch wires from: FotoBellaCreate for LessScrapbook.comI also bought several different sizes from bindingmachine.comTruthfully I don't use these a lot for I like the "cuteness" of the black and white ones from We R Memory Keepers even though they are more expensive. Before I purchased the wires from bindingmachine.com I did email them to double check that these would work. Their email reply back was, "The 2:1 Twin Loop Wire does work with the Cinch machine." (I save my old emails in case I need to rebuy something.)

Restless Spirit, this is the video I used on how to use the Cinch machine.
Even now, I'll use a piece of scrap paper and punch it before I punch holes in the good thing I'm making. Sometimes, I mark the center of the piece of chipboard or paper I am going to punch and I figure out the pegs to pull. I do this if the cover of a mini album is larger than the pages inside of the mini album. Anyway, I do it by centering. Try it on scrap paper before you do it on your good project.
We R Memory Keepers also makes spiral coils that work with the Cinch. I've collected a box of them in different colors when I found them on sale. I definitely use the other kind more. But this is another option.

I’m pretty sure there aren’t a bunch of different manufacturers for the wires, all the scrapbook companies selling them are getting them from the one place that makes them and has them cut to their desired lengths and private labeled. I haven’t found any that didn’t work as long as they were the correct pitch (2:1). I bought out a scrapbook store that was closing years ago thinking I would use them for kits or make n takes when I was hosting crops and I never did.
I ended up donating all of the smallest ones along with my Bind It All to my DD’s elementary school’s publishing center last year. I kept the bigger ones since those are the size I’m most likely to use. Unless you’re binding 12” papers, you don’t need to buy the marked up scrapbook company ones. There are cheaper places to buy them online as long as you don’t need them to be 12” long.

If is says 2:1 double wire binding, it will work with the Bind it All or the Cinch. I have the pink Bind it All and the teal round hole Cinch and use the wires from Zutter (BIA) and WRMK (Cinch) on either machine. I also used a couple of coils from WRMK. I've bought from Best Buy Binding but they've moved exclusively to Amazon, fine with me, I think he was the one with an attitude and didn't always answer emails if you had a question. I've bought from My Binding.com also but I did best with Binding Depot which is NOW Lamination Depot.com. Link below should take you to the 2:1, make sure it is NOT 3:1 link for 2:1 wires at Lamination DepotI bought some large wires in dark colors very cheap and then white in the smaller sizes. I think I got free shipping that time. I checked, and if you order enough, you get $5.95 flat rate shipping. Even though they changed their name, they still have the information for the orders I made 3 and 4 years ago. Yes, I ordered 25, 50 and 100 wires in one size and color but they stay in the box until needed and drastically cheaper than what I bought anywhere else. It is so much cheaper to buy 50 wires there than a dozen wires elsewhere. Unless you live close to Hobby Lobby and can make multiple trips with 40% off, no way to get it cheaper. In fact, I got my wires cheaper than 40% of the small packages at HL. I finally placed the order after I realized I had spent half that much for a handful of wires at Hobby Lobby and the LSS. And they didn't have the sizes I really wanted. I didn't bother with tiny wires, 5/8 inch is the smallest I got, I got mostly 3/4 inch, 7/8 inch and 1 inch and some, I think 1-1/8 inch. There isn't much you can do with wires that are less than 1/2 and not much you can do with the 1/2 inch wires. Especially if you have a thicker cover. I like to use matboard as covers. You can buy a whole sheet at Hobby Lobby in the framing department but I usually just get scraps of matboard from a framing shop. I like to wire bind cookbooks and other books I use a lot and want to lay flat also. And especially my music books. peamail me if you have questions.

I think that they might sell them at Hobby Lobby, too!

I think that they might sell them at Hobby Lobby, too! The ones at Hobby Lobby wind up averaging about $1.50 each and at the binding place, around 30 cents each. And Hobby Lobby no longer have much of a selection of sizes and colors. White, black and the silver wire color if you are lucky. Even if you do wind up with a ton of wires, you would still spend that much just getting a very few wires and never the size you need. At least when I need a wire, I have the size I want. For me, it is an 80 mile trip one way to get to a store that may or may not have any wires in the size I want. And usually no choice in colors, they have have black or white but not usually both colors.
