I would love to get the effect of barn boards like the demo pic on the front of The weathered board die about 2/3 of the way down this post about the new TH Sizzix release. What at do you stampers suggest?

I would love to get the effect of barn boards like the demo pic on the front of The weathered board die about 2/3 of the way down this post about the new TH Sizzix release. What at do you stampers suggest? It sounds like the sample was cut from his wood-grain paper, then distressed. The nice thing about this die is that you could also cut chipboard with it. If you did that, you could stamp the wood grain in black or dark brown. I've also emboss stamped and used brown embossing powder to create a wood grain. If you cut from wood-grain paper, here's my guess for the Distress colors: Ground Espresso, Walnut Stain, Vintage Photo, Tea Dye, and Hickory Smoke. With the Oxides, you can layer dark to light, which should be fun to try. If you use regular Distress, maybe a little sanding at the end would bring out the grain. Maybe try some of both, who knows? After getting the colors down, mist with a little water, dry, then splatter some black ink or paint to finish. Have fun experimenting! I'd love to see what you make. ETA on closer inspection, it looks like the lighter color goes down first, then add the darkest last by sponging over the texture, as the wood grain looks raised. Maybe Tim will do a demo on this one.
