Carta Bella and Authentique have a different texture than most patterned paper. So do you mix and match when using it, or stick to exclusively using the one brand? I am just now starting to not mix white and cream based paper, tackling this issue will be next

I mix, mainly because I always mix and match brands of paper when I scrapbook.I don't buy much of Carta Bella or Authentique, so if I didn't I would not have much to choose from.

I mix up everything. I don't tend to pay too much attention to the texture, it's all about the colours that fit for the project.

I find the mix of paper textures, backgrounds, etc add interest to my (simple, clean, linear) pages.

I will be the first to admit that I actually have trouble with this. But only the specific instance mentioned by breetheflea. There is something about the texture and colour intensity of these two companies paper that I find looks "off" when I mix it with other brands. I will mix the two brands together sometimes, but I find that I struggle to mix them with other more "flat" paper. I do use other textures together though, vellum, metallics, etc. I just seem to struggle with these particular brands.

I also struggle with the mixing which is really strange for me because I don't understand why it's difficult with me and pattern papers when I always have to use textured cardstock, yet I don't mind using different textured patterned paper with that...... I think I'm seriously flawed!

I mix textures and lines and manufacturers. Sometimes I even emphasize different textures by sanding &/or inking the surfaces. And I sometimes add texture with chunky EP or glitter or by ripping and roughing up or curling edges then inking. I love the interest that texture brings to a page. Burlap anyone? How about dry embossed woodgrain?
I work harder to coordinate colours. Have substituted out papers I thought would work b/c of the white/cream issue. Blues, teals and greens are hard too. And who knew there would be that many colous of BLACK?

I mix up all textures and mfrs, too. The only thing I DON'T use is any papers that have a glossy finish; I just don't care for that finish on my patterned paper. (DCWV has some paper pads like that, and I've seen various other manufacturers make papers like that occasionally.)

Regardless their actual weight, IMHO papers from these brands tend to appear heavier than other patterned papers (including Carta Bella's sister company, Echo Park) & even smooth cardstock. I've found the trick to mixing them with other manufacturers' patterned papers is to visually balance the layouts (eg a Carta Bella pattern represents the pint in a gallon-quart-pint ratio of papers on a page). HTH, & happy scrapping!

Actually, as I was typing my response it made me wonder if I could successfully (to my eye) use scraps from these two manufacturers as embellishments by punching or die cutting small pieces. That way the difference in texture or weight might appear to be more intentional, as opposed to how it looks when I try to layer these as I would other regular pattern papers.

I'm a mixer too but mostly because I only buy one off sheets so wouldn't have anything else to use with them.

I mix all textures.
I never mix white and cream based papers, because I don't like the look.

i don't mind mixing and matching if the themes and colors are very similar. if it's two or three really different collections then i would mix at all. it just looks cluttered to me then.

I don’t have papers by either of these companies but I do mix and match my papers. I’d be way too limited if I didn’t.

I mix everything...patterns, texture, cream and white, manufacturers...It's rare that I keep everything in one collection.

Not too often. It bugs me when things aren’t uniform. To me having one textured paper on a sea of smooth flat paper sticks out like a sore thumb.

Usually the first time I use a line, I’ll keep it together. After that, I mix

I believe Fancy Pants also has textured paper. I like mixing them as long as the colors/patterns work together.
