I have a crop coming up next month. MPIX has a 25% off all prints that ends today.
Why can't I get motivated to upload and order my pictures? If I would've gotten around to downloading my pics to my laptop, I could have uploaded during my lunch hour today.
I think it's because I like to name my photos with the date & brief description that makes it such a chore. Then I have the filename printed on the back of the photo. This is the best way for me to easily keep track of when my photos were taken so I don't have to sort through my computer looking for dates as most of my photos are everyday photos, not specific events.

I know..it's just not fun. For me, I think it's that I take way too many and it's really time consuming to pick the ones I want to keep.

maybe when the pictures come in, write the date and names on the back of the photo by hand? then if the photos are ever separated from the page, the info is still there like how we did it in the film days!
for me it is editing and deciding on a photo size that is my roadblock!

I used to love going to Ritz Camera and sitting at their computer station. I could edit and order quickly.
Now, it's look a the photo, edit/crop it, remember to add it to my order, find the coupon code, and place order. Then I get my photos in the mail and I'm always missing some that I forgot to add to the order. Ugh.
It's not my favorite chore.
I've started printing monthly. It's more to ship, but worth it to me to not get so far behind.

I have about 6 years worth of pics that need to be organized and printed! I did get a photo printer to start doing it at home, just printing the ones that I will use for the scrapbooks but there are some events/holidays that I'll need multiple prints for each of the 4 kids' books so it'd be more cost effective to send those out to have them printed... uploading, cropping, editing color, etc just takes soooo looong... LOL

I just spent a insane amount of time chosing and uploading my pics to a new website. Not my favorite thing to do to say the least, but my computer crashed about six weeks ago and it feels good to make sure my memories are safe.

For me, a current barrier is having photos on my phone, my dd's phone, and my camera. I have to make sure that I have all the photos before I feel confident to sort/delete/choose/edit. And it's hard to get all the photos off the iphone and onto a PC dang it!
And I feel the compulsive need to edit some into 3x4 sizes (so putting 2 3x4 photos on one 4x6 print) for scrapping purposes, and deciding which ones to print at which size...
mind numbing.

I’m somewhat thankful for the boxes and boxes if pre-digital photos I have. No decisions to be made there regarding editing and printing. 👍🏻

I make a monthly folder and add to it and print every month. So much less stressful than when I used to save them up. In fact, I haven't even printed our wedding photos from October 2016 because it's so overwhelming!

Yup. When I have a free minute, I really want to use it for something that is instantly fun. Usually playing a game on my tablet, or adding a piece or two to the layout sitting on my desk. I try to "make" myself upload photos as I go through the month, so that at the end of the month, I can just place an order quickly and get it over with. I'll admit, though, that I do no editing, and I just mainly print 4x5.3"

I use the Shutterfly app. I have Android, but I'm sure they have it for iphones, too. It automatically takes photos from my phone and uploads to Shutterfly. It saves me the step of sending to the PC.

Photo management is a limiting step for me too, and I’m bad about getting them printed. I’ve started moving photos to my computer once a month, and backing them up at that time, generally the first of the month for the previous month.
I also process them through Lightroom. I can view by date, then I select the photos I want to print, add them to the appropriate “collection” - I have a collection set up for each print size and have a corresponding template that fits on a 4x6 (eg, 2x2, 3x4, 4x4, etc). Then I click on each collection and edit the photos as needed. I then export to print and upload to a print site (or print at home). It does take a while, so I do it in batches as the motivation or need for photos strikes. But I have years of unprinted photos still to do.
It’s much more fun to scrapbook or surf for inspiration.

My scrapbook life changed when I got a selphy a few years ago. Now I edit pics on my phone when standing in line or waiting for kids. They automatically upload through photo stream. They're just on my computer and when I'm ready I print to the selphy right when I'm doing the page. Other than bulk prints for holidays, it's the only way I do it anymore. I highly recommend looking into a small photo printer. It's a little more expensive per print, but totally worth the "no uploading to sites" chore - to me.

I generally order from Mpix right from my phone thru their app. I used to be a little neurotic with photo management and organization and just found it was sucking up too much time. So now when a sale comes along, I make sure I just go through and grab a few significant or specials shots. I do this by favoriting photos in the general Photos app (the heart) when I take them or shortly after events. This way when a sale comes up, I just go the Favorites folder, maybe make a few edits, upload and order. I think I ended up with about 43 prints for yesterday's sale.
I take a ton of photos but I've scaled way way down on what I actually get printed. I realized I don't need a ton of shots, just 1 or 2 good ones to tell the story I want to tell.

I just print, kind of like the old days when you printed what was on the roll and made it work. I Project Life and generally stick to design A. If it’s a vertical picture I print 3x4, if it’s horizontal I print 4x6. I crop if I really need to. I usually print at home because I’m not taking hundreds of pictures. Every now and then I’ll throw in an Instax or Zip print for something different. I refuse to over think this. I’m not on a design team trying to sell a design or style. My layouts aren’t necessarily coordinated by style or color. I don’t edit my photos other than to maybe lighten them up if they are too dark, and that only happens after printing if I feel the urge. My layouts are mostly photos and memorabilia. I’ve come to the conclusion that filler cards are for design teams. I use them only when I have no photo/memorabilia/journaling to add.

I usually try to get my pics uploaded and edited within a day or two of taking them. I'm always afraid something will happen to them digitally so I try to have a hard copy or at least have them on a photo ordering site.
I uploaded photos last night and today they aren't in my photo cart - have no idea why so thankfully I can grab them off the laptop again tonight.
Possibly you can put them in a holding pattern on a photo site and edit them as you get time.

Putting a few smaller photos on one 4x6 is another whole thing that takes up time for printing. I don't do this often, but like the variation for my layouts. I still use the old photosheet program. This is generally the extent of my editing.
I don't take many pictures, but often only get prints ordered once every 12-16 months. Last time I think I ended up with about 130-ish prints spanning about 15 months.
I would skip the naming & put the date on the back, but it needs done anyway fore me to back up the photos. I'm a bit quirky & can't deal with pulling up a disk of photos & just seeing random numbers that were assigned by my camera.
I have an android trac fone, it takes ok pictures, but they often have a little blur to them. Otherwise, I'd consider an app to just upload to mpix.

It’s the part of scrapbooking that I don’t like. I have to remind myself that I feel inspired when they come in the mail. I’d say a new batch of pictures inspires me more than new supplies. I get through it by listening to podcasts. I wish I could get myself to do it more often so it wouldn’t turn into a chore that lasts half the day.

I have this same issue, but my problem is that I edit the photos as I go along, so it seems to be such a huge chore that I put off doing it. In reality, it's not a huge chore, and if I edited photos as I went, it would only take a few minutes at a time, but I still end up putting it off time and time again. Grrr!

I've come to the same realization! I was frustrated with chosing the right pics and sizes. Then I remembered all my lost pictures--even one per "event" would have been great to have. And so I chose a few for each layout yesterday. It saves time, energy, money and a lot of frustration.

For me it's the process of getting them edited and uploaded. I need to incorporate it into a weekly routine. Right now I only do it when I'm sick of looking at the photos I have and want new scrappy options.

I don't mind printing photos, but then I have no photo worthy life most of the time. When the dgk's come here, or I go to see them, I take a zillion photos. It is a ritual to stop at a WM on the way home from a family visit or to drive to the nearest WM a day or two after the kids come here, and edit and print all my photos from the latest adventure. When I get home, I sort the photos into scrapable groups and put them into a dated envelope. That way they are all ready to play as soon as I am.
As far as saving the photos in any organized way, I upload them to my computer and save each group by date and place (for example Christmas 2017 the Farm). So far I have been able to find most photos I need from my computer that way.
I don't know what I would do if there were things actually happening and photos being taken every day or several times a week. I guess schedule photo edits/printing on a regular basis. Seems like the longer it goes before printing, the further away from my mind the significance of the photos go.

It can be quite time consuming. That’s why I prefer to print small quantities at home as I need them.

Your post ... motivated me! I placed an order with Shutterfly after seeing the title of your post! Thanks! But -- it was tedious dealing with Shutterfly!
