and I just love them. The learning curve is steeper than i expected, but i am practicing a lot and watching a lot of videos. As soon as I get enough colors, I am going to take Sandy Allnock's class. Besides Kwerner, Sandy Allnock and Jen Mcguire, who are your favorite copic marker youtubers? Sandy ALlnock is a little intimidating because she's SO good, and i get frustrated when mine dont look as perfect as hers, but I guess that's why she's Sandy Allnock, right?

Laura Bassen and Vickie Papaioannou. Vickie doesn't always show all the coloring though. Also check out Kathy Racoosin and Kelly Latevola.

Yay! I love my Copics. I'm taking Sandy's class. You really don't need many colors for it. In addition to those already listed I recommend watching Stephanie Klauk, Nicole Spohr and Yana Smakula.

Good to know I don't need more, at least for the moment!

Watch older Vicki P videos she colors more in those. Anyone designing for Lawn Fawn seems to have copic coloring in their videos. Sandy A is a great teacher about how to color, especially how to color light and shadow. She is amazing.

How did you decide what colours to start with? Given all the options, I find it super intimidating to figure out which ones to choose...

I had already purchased the Sketch set A used from Ebay before I considered her class. So while I have a lot of colors, they aren't the ones she uses. I just use whatever colors I feel at the time. Pink turtles, green puppies, blue teddy bears or whatever. Right now I'm just learning how to use the markers. I watched the complementary color videos but I wasn't too focused on it because I knew I didn't have enough of those colors. Does that make sense? I'll go back at a later time to re-watch those sections.

How did you decide what colours to start with? Given all the options, I find it super intimidating to figure out which ones to choose... I agree! I did a lot of research and while checking eBay for used pens (suggested by a friend) I ended up coming across a smoking deal on a used Set A from Ebay. While I have a lot of markers I wish I would've purchased a few of the three packs, then added other colors as my skills grow. What I find intimidating is there are 358 colors and I tend to be a "collector". Ack!

I promised myself I wouldn't fall down the alcohol marker rabbit hole, but then I tried a cheap set and I'm hooked! I love how effortlessly they blend (compared to other mediums anyway)... I like your idea about ebay, but I don't feel very confident, and when you add the colour choice issue...!!

I decided to go for the Ciaos because there's only 180, and I have a much better chance of being able to get the whole set. I found a bunch on Amazon for about $3 each (cheapest was 2.77 in the 72 sets). Now I just need the skills.

How did you decide what colours to start with? Given all the options, I find it super intimidating to figure out which ones to choose... IF i had known that Sandy ALlnock has a recommended set of colors, i would have gone with those to start. You can find her list right here: art-classes.com/course/copic-jumpstart/lessons/copic-jumpstart-pre-class-warmup/ But i found another list that i used but now i can't find it! grrr. no worries--i am going to get a screenshot of my order from carpediem and you can see what she recommended--it was her 'most used' list and i really liked that the colors weren't too bright--i am happy with all of them. can you see this? goo.gl/hGoM2M

Can you tell i am also a collector???

I just went to look at Sandy's suggested list, and she says to make a new copic chart every once in a while because copic ink fades over time.
Great for cards, bad for scrapbooks! Am I the only one that didn't know that?
