I bought a stamp set a few months ago and just couldn't wait to play with it. But no matter what i do, no matter how i try, I can NOT get my cards using the set to look right! I have tried and tried and I am so frustrated. I LOVE these stamps, but something abuot them just makes them hard for me to work with. I don't really do "landscape" type cards--meaning, ground, leaves, sun etc. and I think that is how these were meant to be used. So frustrating! Here's the set I am trying to work with (and there's very little in the way of online inspiration for this set, unfortunately): heroarts.com/products/cm152-fun-in-the-rainAnyone ever have a stamp set they love but just CAN'T get to look right on a card?

Sadly, yes. If there is a tutorial on how to use it, that usually helps, but most stamps don't have tutorials.

I made a card with that adorable pig. When I get home later I'll take a photo and try to post it.

LoL, I've passed on that set several times, and now I kind of want it. It's adorable! The pig totally sells it for me.

I've literally spent 3 hours on one card and gotten nothing lol. I did make a duck card from the ducks. I'll post it in a bit. Taking a break from my pig card to watch a movie. Then i will clean up and try again. Arg! LOL.

Yes! It DOES need grounding. I was thinking about out all day and basically realized that the 3d naturw of the image is whats problematic for me. The rest ofbthe elements i am using are "flat". I will try watercolor for grounding which has more dimensionality. And yes, saw thise cards and dont love any of them except the one where theyre sitting in a little pool. But even that one looks odd to me because the elephant and the pig are the same "size". Does that make sense? I do like the cutout cloud one! I donty have a cloud cutout, but will work with that one.

I think I would do Duck, Duck, Duck...Pig! with the ducks on the front of a card and that adorable pig on the inside with a sentiment of "Hope your day is filled with lovely surprises." Those stamps are adorable!

I am going to try again with the piggie using watercolors and more of a 'landscape' feel. I have a few of him that i stamped and cut out, so i figure..if at first you don't succeed...

mamakoala. Here is my piggy card. I made a mask for the piggy then used distress inks for the background. The sentiment is from another set embossed on vellum. I just realized that I need to add "horizon" lines to ground the little guy. He's kind of just floating. Piggy is colored using Zigs.

I don't have any distress inks...i think i need to go shopping. Love the background.

That set is adorable, and so are the cards! Another idea is to stamp and color the animal(s) on a piece of white cardstock (whatever is suitable for the medium that you're using to color it in). Then cut it out with a circle die, or even trim it into a rectangle with a paper trimmer. Then layer it onto a card with whatever background you like. That way you won't have to worry about creating a background for the image.

Thank you so much! ETA: Boy, I had to hunt that down. It is discontinued! But I found it for a reasonable price. Can't wait until it gets here.
