I often see threads with people seeking recommendations of what to watch so I thought maybe we could have an ongoing thread about what people like or didn't like ~ especially Made for Netflix shows. But feel free to give recommendations for anything on Netflix.
I'll start ~ a few of the shows we have watched in the past that we really enjoyed are The Killing, Ozark, House of Cards and The Crown. I'm sure there are others that just aren't popping into my head right now.
We just started Harlan Coben's The Five and have been sucked in.

Oh great idea for a thread! I'll be watching this one. I will contribute to the list after reviewing my Netflix favorites. I'm in the middle of an episode of the Crown right now. Loving it.

Especially made for Netflix favorites would be Peaky Blinders, The Killing and Stranger Things. Also enjoyed The Fall, Jessica Jones Bordertown, Happy Valley and Hotel Beau Sejour. Available on Netflix would be Broadchurch.

Dark (Netflix original). "When two children go missing in a small German town, its sinful past is exposed along with the double lives and fractured relationships that exist among four families as they search for the kids. The mystery-drama series introduces an intricate puzzle filled with twists that includes a web of curious characters, all of whom have a connection to the town's troubled history -- whether they know it or not. The story includes supernatural elements that tie back to the same town in 1986. "Dark" represents the first German original series produced for Netflix."
This was kind of like Stranger Things meets Lost and I thought it was absolutely riveting. My only gripe, and it's admittedly a very small one, is that I didn't find the voice actors doing the dubbing all that great. The show was filmed in German and is dubbed, not subtitled. I think that in general dubbing was the right choice over subtitling for this series because you have to pay VERY close attention to who all the characters are and what is going on, else you'll be hopelessly lost, but I felt like the voices didn't always seem to match the characters' personalities. Again, small gripe as it was one of the best things I've seen recently. It's been renewed for a second season.
The Fall (Netflix original) starring Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan. 3 seasons @ 6 episodes each. It's a fantastic psychological thriller set in Belfast with Anderson playing the detective trying to catch a serial killer played by Jamie Dornan (super hot... even if he kills people... just like Dexter... I clearly have issues).

The Crown is next on my list of shows to watch. I really liked Santa Clarita Diet. I was watching Orange is the New Black, but I think I'm about 2 seasons behind. Trailer Park Boys is hilarious if you like crude humor.

The Keepers. If you're a true crime junkie this is a must see. Riverdale- it's kinda young adult-ish but good once you get into it. Santa Clarita Diet- twisted humor is needed for this one ..I love it lol One Day at a Time- I think this is a remake but I love this light hearted show. The Ranch- DH got me into this show and I find it pretty funny..sometimes it does lean more on the dramatic side than comedy.
On another note I'm kinda annoyed their raising their prices..I feel the show selection has gone downhill and find myself watching Hulu more.

I liked Godless with Michelle Dockery (from Downton Abbey) and Jeff Daniels.
Good Western. Lots of killing/violence, though, so not for kids/the faint of heart.

I just binge watched Dear White People. I like Halt and Catch Fire which was on for 4 seasons, but I only heard about right when it was ending! I also enjoyed GLOW, Master of None, and Stranger Things. Watched most of Narcos, but I had to pay way too much attention (couldn't multitask) and the first season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, but gave up on that one.

The third season of Love Sick just came out and my husband and I just binged that. This show is not for everyone, but it is one of the few shows my husband and I can agree upon and find really funny. It was a British show the first season, but Netflix has taken over production.

Oh I love this thread. I forgot about Santa Clarita diet I really liked that one and loved this last season of Grace and Frankie. I am watching the Crown now and really liking it. I was going to watch House of Cards and only watched the first season but just not sure I can watch the others now.
I wanted to like the Marvel ones but just got a few episodes into Dare Devil and it is just too violent.
I wish they would come out with some good Sci Fi and more lighthearted comedies or romance without being so over the top silly.
I think Mindhunter will be my next series. I am also curious about One Day at a Time but not sure as I remember liking the original as a kid.

I know bc I recommended it to DH after seeing it subtitled, and he started watching while out of town and it was dubbed, but he knew I said it was subtitled so he checked and changed a setting on his laptop and voila, subtitles, no dub.

I never see anyone mention The Magicians but I LOVE this show. It's a SyFy original now into season 3, but they do have seasons 1&2 available. Very clever, great characters and storylines. Kind of aimed at millennials but can be enjoyed by anyone.
If you read the book by Lev Grossman, you'll get an idea of the premise. It's kind of like an adult Harry Potter meets The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.

I really liked 'Somebody Feed Phil'. It's a six part documentary hosted by Phil Rosenthal. "a goodwill eating tour around the world". It is funny and genuine. He Skypes with his elderly Jewish parents at the end of every episode They're so cute.

I’m late to the game and just started watching El Gran Hotel. (English subtitles). It is a bit like Downton. Set in Spain in the early 1900’s. Another good Spanish series is Velvet, Spain in the late 50s. (also English subtitles). Highly recommend both of them.

Well, thanks for that tip. I didn't have any idea that you could switch between the two. I had planned on watching it again, so now that I know who everyone is and what's going on, I'm definitely going to try with subtitles next time.
