Godless is so good. It's a western but not the usual western you may be used to seeing. Much better! It stars Michelle Dockery (sans English accent and gorgeous clothes), Jeff Daniels (doing a wonderful turn as a psychopathic bad guy), Scoot McNairy (the local sheriff who is going blind), the supreme Merritt Wever (the sheriff's widowed sister who dresses in her dead husbands clothes and decides to play for the other side) and lots of other characters who are equally as well cast and wonderful in their parts. I've never particularly been a western fan but can't recommend this one enough. There is quite a bit of extremely graphic violence in parts, some nudity and some strong language so I wouldn't recommend watching with children but DO watch. The cinematography is stunning also.

Just watched Le Mante. There were 8 episodes. It's a French series with subtitles. It was REALLY good but it's very gory. It's a bout a female serial killer who helps police solve a series of copycat murders. Lots of twists and turns!

I love Grace and Frankie. Another one I liked was Bloodline. It has 3 seasons and kept me interested.

I started watching because it had Merritt Wever in it, and stayed because it was so good. She is just such an amazing actress -- she has such a different and mesmerizing way about her. Loved this one.

Offspring is really fun. You might need a family tree to keep everyone sorted out lol. It’s an Australian show set in Melbourne and partly narrated by one of the characters. It can take a bit to figure whether the scene you are watching is reality or her imagination, and she does have a vivid imagination.

Many shows I enjoyed have already been listed: The Crown, The Keepers, Somebody Feed Phil, Manhunt: The Unabomber.
DH and I enjoy documentaries, so we are working our way through Rotten, a series about the food industry. Big, big eye opener.
We have also watched several documentaries on WWII, Churchill, and there is more than one about Prince Phillip being a Nazi sympathizer. Very interesting.

Dark (Netflix original). "When two children go missing in a small German town, its sinful past is exposed along with the double lives and fractured relationships that exist among four families as they search for the kids. The mystery-drama series introduces an intricate puzzle filled with twists that includes a web of curious characters, all of whom have a connection to the town's troubled history -- whether they know it or not. The story includes supernatural elements that tie back to the same town in 1986. "Dark" represents the first German original series produced for Netflix." This was kind of like Stranger Things meets Lost and I thought it was absolutely riveting. My only gripe, and it's admittedly a very small one, is that I didn't find the voice actors doing the dubbing all that great. The show was filmed in German and is dubbed, not subtitled. I think that in general dubbing was the right choice over subtitling for this series because you have to pay VERY close attention to who all the characters are and what is going on, else you'll be hopelessly lost, but I felt like the voices didn't always seem to match the characters' personalities. Again, small gripe as it was one of the best things I've seen recently. It's been renewed for a second season. The Fall (Netflix original) starring Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan. 3 seasons @ 6 episodes each. It's a fantastic psychological thriller set in Belfast with Anderson playing the detective trying to catch a serial killer played by Jamie Dornan ( super hot... even if he kills people... just like Dexter... I clearly have issues). Check the settings on whatever you're streaming with. It is subtitled or dubbed, you might have to adjust something. I know bc I recommended it to DH after seeing it subtitled, and he started watching while out of town and it was dubbed, but he knew I said it was subtitled so he checked and changed a setting on his laptop and voila, subtitles, no dub. Thanks for this. Going to see if I can find that option on the Roku because I can't stand the bad 70's kung fu movie type dubbing.

I just finished watching a wonderful series about a group of nurse trainees from Madrid's upper class go to help with the war effort in "Morocco: Love in Times of War". There is only one season and 13 episodes but it is really great. It's in Spanish with English subtitles.
Last night I watched this movie again because I enjoyed it so much the first time-"Train To Busan". It's a really good Korean zombie movie about a man and his young daughter trying to make it through the city back to their home alive. Give it a chance if you like zombie movies. It's one of the better ones I've seen.
If I think of any more I'll post again.

DH and I enjoy documentaries, so we are working our way through Rotten, a series about the food industry. Big, big eye opener. liked this a lot as well... i find many docs about the food industry too graphic for me. haven't seen all the episodes but found the ones i have watched to be very informative. also liked the keepers and 13th - 13th was shocking and very disheartening. for some reason i am also obsessed with "locked up" and have seen all the seasons available. series: riverdale, outlander (still on season 1), orange is the new black (but admit i didn't love last season). tried to get into godless but didn't stick... may try again... need to get back to homeland as i found it pretty intense and it was stressing me out!!

I liked The Missing and DH and I have been binge-watching Suits. We are huge Suits fans. I think when it starts up again that will be it since Rachel is turning into a Princess. She’s leaving and Mike is leaving, but the show is continuing.

I'm not sure if these shows are Netflix or not, but some that we enjoy are: Electric Dreams based on short stories by Philip K. Dick Black Mirror - a British sci-fi show Humans - British show about synthetic humans Poldark - British period piece
We tried Frontier, with the yummy Jason Momoa, but it kind of plods along.

The last two shows I watched were Le Mante, and Morocco Love in times of war. The first is in French and it’s a crime drama, the other one in Spanish and was really good. I also recommend No Second Chance and The Frozen dead In French and The Five, this one in English. Older ones and a lot longer were Velvet and Gran Hotel, also very enjoyable. Based on your recommendations I plan to watch Godless or Dark next.

I’m currently hooked on the Australian show Offspring. It is hilarious. And dramatic. Has a Bridget Jones vibe to me but I’m only in the first season out of 7. I’ve heard the rest is amazing.
We have Canadian netflix but I’m sure it’s on Us Netflix too.

This is on my list, glad to read you enjoyed it. I'm watching Dirk Gently, I like it so far. It's weird but weird is good.
I really enjoyed The Sinner Dark Sense8 Star Trek - Discovery Alias Grace Anything Marvel (except the Punisher, really dislike the lead actor)

I just started watching Retribution. It's about two families whose children marry and are killed in a breakin. The killer, for reasons unknown, is headed to their homes and crashes. They go to help him not knowing that he is the killer. They find out and what happens after is what the series is about. I'm only on the 3rd episode but it looks very promising.
Update: This was only4 episodes long. I really enjoyed it. I never would have guessed the ending.

I don't know. We watch it when it runs on USA. When we first started we were 2 seasons behind so I got the DVDs from our library.

These are some I enjoyed over the past couple months and I don't think they are mentioned up thread. Most are British.
Spies of Warsaw (with David Tenent...a story of spies and war time espionage) The Viceroy's House (1947 India as Lord Mountbatten struggles with ending British rule) Indian Detective (a Canadian born Indian policeman visits his father in India and gets involved in a police investigation) The Last Kingdom (set in early England as the native people deal with Viking invasions) Derek (this has been around for a long time. Set in a nursing home...very funny)

You are right. Unfortunately it is only on Prime. Of Netflix originals I watch Grace and Frankie, aTypical, and House of Cards. I watched one episode of Wanted which is sort of a take on Thelma and Louise. It's good but I haven't really gotten into it yet. DH loved it. I liked the Big Family Cooking Showdown but I don't think it will continue beyond the one season. I've tried quite a few other Netflix originals and they weren't for me. Other shows on Netflix that I did love: White Collar, Drop Dead Diva, Parenthood, Gilmore Girls, The Fosters, Switched at Birth, Royal Pains, Death in Paradise (British detective show filmed on the gorgeous Guadalupe), Mad Men, The Good Witch, and The Great British Baking Show.

I knew I was forgetting something. I have been watching the magicians and really like it. It's not kid friendly though. I watched Travellers last season but haven't watched the most current one yet.
I'm really curious about the new show they are advertising that starts Friday or Saturday.

Wanted is an Australian series where two strangers waiting at a bus stop witness a crime gone wrong and are kidnapped by one of the perpetrators. It is great and has some interesting twists you don't expect. Definitely check it out!
After watching Broadchurch, The Fall and Happy Valley, Netflix recognized my like of dark crime series and recommended Wallander, Marcella, Hinterland, Jack Taylor, Southcliffe and Shetland. All good.
Hell on Wheels is also good. I started watching it ages ago and need to start again to finish the series.

One thing this thread has proven: so many shows, so little time!! I don't think I have ever had a time where there were too many shows but I am at that point right now. I am liking Offspring and Altered Carbon - totally different shows - Altered Carbon not good for in front of kids lots more nudity than I expected. Also want to watch Travelers, the Crown and Magicians. My list is actually quite long right now.

Bumping this back up because you guys always have great recommendations and I have one to add that I didn't see mentioned. My husband found a show called Episodes and we are really enjoying it (about halfway through first season). It originally aired on Showtime quite a while back so there are a few seasons to watch. It's basically about a married British couple who has a hit show in the UK and are offered to remake it in the US. Matt LeBlanc plays himself and so far it's about the hilarious ways of them attempting to navigate Hollywood while making their show. I'm sure I am the last one who has never heard of this before and everyone has probably seen it!

I have started watching Call the Midwife again. I had stopped for a few years.
I tried the first episode of Offspring, but so far I am not hooked. Does it get better? I am finding most of the characters very unlike able.
