I know this is going to be a weird question. Any help would be so appreciated.
If I ink my stamp with Versamark then my Stampin Up Ink will that prevent fading over time?
I have some projects that my Stampin Up ink has already faded. I have the 2010 line of inks. I need to invest in some pigment inks. I was thinking if I used Versamark/Stampin Up Ink combo that might help. Should I just go for a new line of pigment inks?
Thank you for any help. I am frustrated at this point right now with my beloved SU inks.

@amayalylac no personal experience but using Versamark with your SU inks is probably worth a go? It certainly helps with dye inks that tend to be blotchy and as a pigment Ink you’d think it may help with fade resistance.

Thank you Annie. That is my thinking too that the glycerin base will help with the fading. I know dye inks fade. Wow, Stampin Up inks fade really fast. Dye Inks always have a fade life. I don't use them in archival work. I made a couple of bookmarks with SU ink. I had them laminated. They are in the light since I lay them down by my lamp when I am reading. They faded within a year. I can remake the bookmarks but I was attached to them. I was a big ragey about this fading thing, lol. I also made a bookmark and colored it with my Sharpies and it faded too. I was really attached to that one. Least the Sharpie one was three years old. My SU bookmarks were only one.

I just watched a Kristina Werner video where she talked about her mail art and how she used to treat it so that it wouldn't run and smear if it got wet. Would one of the products she mentioned maybe work for you, so that you could just treat the whole thing when you finished instead of having to double ink each time you stamp? I am linking the video for you. video

Thank you Gigi that was really sweet to link the video for me. No, I don't think that would work. I am going to try the Versamark/SU combo and cross my fingers that fading will be minimal. I am going to make another glycerin ink pad and try that too. Since glycerin is the primary component for pigment ink and does help with fade prevention. I have been stamping for close to forty years. I started as a child stamping. I remember when I discovered pigment ink, I think I was in my pre-teens. My Dad handed me a bottle of Corn Husker's Lotion. Kid you not. He said there is your pigment ink. I was doing the Versmark/Ink Combo before it was widely popular. Back then because I was just a kid/pre-teen I didn't have expensive inks. All my journals and cards I made my ink still looks good to this day using the Cornhusker's/Ink combo. Years later over at our old 2Peas I found another Corn Husker user too. I swear I have no more dinosaur stories, lol. I always wanted really nice inks since I was a little girl in lots of colors. When I became an adult and could purchase all the SU's. I was so excited. Now they are fading. I am so mad. I feel like my kid inks were better quality. If anybody else has any ideas I would be appreciative. I researched and researched. Nothing came up. I did come up with a couple of high handed smackdowns from a couple of SU demo's when their customer base asked about the fading. That was disheartening to read and made me do a massive side eye.

Pigment ink is definitely going to outlast dye ink. It's supposed to be archival quality. I am sorry about your SU inks. Maybe just get a few base colors of pigments in different brands to see what you like. I have all the SU spots in pigment colors and they do well, but I don't think they sell them anymore. I'm sure there is something out there easily available though.

@weluvstangs I am going to pick up some newer pigment ink and add those to my collection. The motto stampers can never have too much ink. I did find a project today that I had inked with Versamark/SU. It was another bookmark. It got hidden behind some of my other ones because it is tiny. The ink still looks good. I am thinking that adding the glycerin layer from Versamark is giving the protected coating over SU's dye ink formula.

You and I think alike in that stampers can never have too much ink. 😃 I hope adding the Versamark works well for your project❣
