I tried to place an order on Winkflash.com tonight and while it let me upload and choose how many I wanted to print, there is no "place order" button to push. Got online and discovered that they've been ignoring orders, not answering phones and not answering questions on their FB page since Aug. 25. Here's an article I found that just came out today: Winkflash Closed
Apparently, the building and parking lot are deserted and no one knows what happened. |

That is crazy they just closed up with no announcement! I'm surprised that no former employees are talking about what happened.

Wow! I've used them for years. I had planned to upload a bunch of pictures this past weekend and place a huge order, but never got around to it. I guess it's a good thing I ended up being too busy.

rats! A short time ago I placed a pretty good sized order, about 400 I think. I think it's hard to beat .06 prints, but probably hard to stay in business too.

Oh my! I just met with my scrapbook group this past weekend and we were all sharing which online photo processor we prefer and Winkflash came up. I am off to check my account right now!

I know it doesn't help those of you who have work in process, but I have used clarkcolor.com numerous times for prints. 4 x 6 is just .09 and they have frequent sales. Print quality has always been good and they are speedy. Right now they have photo books for 20% off on orders over $20. I have no connection with them, other than satisfied customer.
I hope no one loses their hard earned money with Winkflash. Kind of strange to just lock the door and leave everyone stranded...not to mention not nice!

Wow! That's a surprise ! I have used them a lot over the past 10 years and recently recommended them to someone. I'm really surprised at the lack of notice to customers. When Kodak gallery closed down, they sent out multiple notices about what would happen to your photos and giving people a chance to save their photos and projects off the site. They then migrated everyone's accounts over to shutterfly where I was able to merge mine with my shutterfly account.

That's crappy for people who had work in progress or photos to print. I used to use Winkflash, but haven't printed photos in a long time.
Something similar happened to me with a photobook company called Ziblio (used them for Project Life). One day their website was offline and emails, FB, phone calls, etc. got zero response. I was in the middle of my Project Life book - lots of work in it and I couldn't recover it (it was the journaling I wanted the most). Crappy.

Any word on how we can retrieve our pictures. I'm getting upset. I remember in 2006 how efficient they were in getting our pictures when Yahoo changed. Still mad about that.
Hope they come through for everyone. I loved winkflash.

i can't believe this! i used them in the past for vacation photo books. i was working on one from a family trip to europe in 2012 - yes, my bad for waiting so long to finish! i was about 3/4 the way done and sat down today to try and finish it off and just found this out. i'd love to be able to somehow transfer the project to another vender. perhaps another online photo outfit can work something out with them- wishful thinking i know!!

Oh man I had uploaded pictures to Winkflash and was so glad I did because my computer crashed the next day before I backed anything up to an external hard drive. What a stupid move on my part, not trying to download them back on to my new computer. |
