I have been shopping around online but I figured there may be some peas who could give me some suggestions. I have several papers and a few design projects that I'd like to do but need 12x12 frames. They seem a little pricier than than the typical frame sizes which is alright with me but I'm looking for the best price. Thanks!

I get them from JoAnn's in the framing section. They are actually made for record jackets. You can get them on sale too! Wood FrameShadow Box
Record album frame
The last one is the one I use, they are lightweight and easy to switch out the layouts if I get tired of looking at them.

I used to buy in hobby lobby with 40% off but haven't looked at them for a while.

I agree with everyone else - I also use those frames designed for record album jackets. They fit perfectly and are cheaper than frames you'll find marketed for scrapbook layouts. I wait for the frame sales at A.C. Moore and pick them up when they're 50% off.

The record frames at Michaels sometimes go on sale for 1/2 off- that's when I get mine, too.

I've used the J's shadowboxes before when gifting layouts and they worked out great and held up nicely over time.
IKEA has some nice options for shadowboxes as well as album frames too!
