I finished season 1 (of 7 seasons on Netflix) and the show was killing me. I was laughing with tears coming down my face. Younger dd walked into the room to ask why I was crying and i quickly had to pause because it was oh so inappropriate. I chuckled to myself all night. And when I called my mom (who recommended it to me) she said ‘you just have no idea what is coming’. And the drama causes me tears too. The acting is so good. It’s like i forget they aren’t really those people. I’m loving this show.
Paige.

I've only watched two episodes and am really liking it so far. It was recommended on another thread here.

It is a good show. I take a break in between seasons. I appreciate the humor more when I don’t overdose on it.

I binge watched offspring seasons 1 to 7 in about 3 weeks. Loved it. Then I watched Love my way also with Asher Keddie. Both great shows.

One of my favourite shows. A very Australian show.

I don't know if it's available in the USA but another good Aussie show that is similar is "The Secret Life Of Us" It's older than Offspring and if I had to compare the two, I think I liked it a bit more.
Offspring definitely has a few 'ugly cry' moments.

One of my all-time favorite programs. I didn't want it to end... so invested in the characters.

I guess the best description is an Australian family drama/comedy. The main character Nina, is a female obstetrician who is single and dating and it's also about her extended family who are somewhat unusual and a little dysfunctional and her various work colleagues. Some of it is based in the hospital and the patients she sees (not medically accurate though, so it isn't a "hospital drama") the rest is about her family and personal life. Nina has a brother and a sister & her parents are divorced, one of the main storylines is when she finds out that they don't all share the same biological father. it's not a straight drama, it's also funny and a bit 'quirky'

Offspring is one of my favourite TV shows ever. DD and I were very late to the party with this one. We binge watched seasons 1-5 on Netflix, then we had to buy season 6 on DVD to watch before season 7 was shown on free-to-air TV here. I love it so much!! And Asher Keddie is just the best - I adore her! I don't know if it's available in the USA but another good Aussie show that is similar is "The Secret Life Of Us" OMG, how good was Secret Life of Us?! Especially the first 2 seasons. And especially because it was local(ish) to you and I. It's hard to believe that it was nearly 17 years ago when it first aired. It's funny that you mention it, I was just telling DD about it the other day and said that she would love it. I'll have to see if I can find it anywhere.

It's hard to believe that it was nearly 17 years ago when it first aired. OMG 17 years? I didn't realise it was that old, I would have said maybe 10. I loved it at the time, probably a bit more than Offspring but most likely because I was closer in age when I was watching compared to Offspring now. I'd definitely watch it again as I don't think I saw all of the episodes the first time. Poor Samuel Johnston had no idea where his life was going back then. AS for Offspring, I sometimes find the character (and the real life) annoying, the speech pattern can grate a bit. But I LOVE Billie. That role and also Roberta from Underbelly were made for her.
