My DH has mentioned this a few times and I wondered about getting him one for Valentine's Day. Does anyone have one who can weigh in? Is it just an expresso machine with pods? There's just the two of us living at home and I never drink coffee so it really would just be for him. Good idea or not?
Thanks in advance.

If you wanted to get him something significantly cheaper that makes an incredible cup of coffee get him an Aeropress. I bought one a couple weeks ago and absolutely love it.

I have one. Makes good espresso but I'm not a fan of it for regular coffee

I love mine. Makes good espresso and we love the coffee with the crema on top. There are several varieties, so get a sampler pack so you can find the one you like best.
I will say, I only use mine on the weekends. I drink too much coffee to go through that many pods all the time. On weekdays we make a big pot of regular coffee.
I also got a sleeve of half-caf pods recently so I can make a single cup of coffee at night if I want it.

My DH was given one (the Pixie model) for his birthday 18 months ago. Like you we're a 2 person household and he's the only coffee drinker. He loves it! Has had other coffee machines before but this one has been used more consistently by far.

We have one - in fact, we are onto our second machine, as we used the first so much! I love it, and it is the only thing I use to make coffee. Really simple to use, and the coffee is consistent. We keep a variety of capsules on hand - flavoured, decaf and different intensities of regular coffee. Ours makes both espressos and milk drinks - latte or cappuchino - which suits what we drink. YOu can get one that just does espresso/lungo for less money if you don't drink the milk coffees.

What is it called?

We have the one with milk, and I also live in Germany, so my information is probably not that useful to you - I found models available very different when I was back in Australia last year and looking with my DS to buy one for him. I'd suggest going into a Nespresso boutique, or another store with a large number of machines, and asking them for advice.

Yes, we have one and we love it. Neither of us are big coffee drinkers but we like our cappuccinos and lattes. We have this one. link

I have one and love it. Mine is a couple of years old, so the frother is separate and only heats and froths milk. I think some are now built into the machine and also froth cold milk.
If he likes cappuccino and lattes, it's a wonderful thing. We use ours often in conjunction with the Keurig, and our guests love it. The pods come in many different flavors, so if you do get it, get a flavor sampler pack along with it.

I have an older version of nespresso and the only disadvantage I see is that I can't just go out and pick up pods like people seem to do for Keurig. I have to either order them online from their store or go to the only store they have which is an hour drive for me.
I generally order in bulk (You get free shipping if you order pods over $50).

We are the opposite with the Nespresso used on weekdays and a big pot of coffee on the weekend. I was completely sold on the Nespresso after staying with a friend with one and immediately put it on my Christmas list a couple of years ago. DH was skeptical because he was never a fan of the Keurig they had at work (which they got rid of) but he loves the Nespresso as much as I do. We have the Vertuo Machine. I buy the pods online and always get a couple of the recycling bags. It is super easy to drop the full bags at a local UPS store.

I like mine. I don't drink much coffee but sometimes I need a good caffeine bomb before I leave for work. I can imagine it would get pricey if you drink a lot of coffee, but they run specials on the pods every now and then.

I love mine because the coffee is so consistent and it's very convenient. I have the small Inissia machine with separate milk brother. Don't think this model is available any more, but there should be similar ones. I'd go into a boutique if there's one near you and have a look at what's available.

I have both and if pods are something you don't want to deal with, definitely go with an Aeropress. Just know that it does tend to go through a lot of grounds! If he's a casual coffee drinker, I think he'd like it.

We have one at the old home and now that we are on the road we actively seek out hotels which have a Pixie (usually) in the room. At a very fancy suite at Caesar's Palace, we had a Keurig. It was good, but not great. I vote go for the Nespresso. Crema, yay!
