Today begins w/my favorite part of the week, acupuncture. Though I'm a bit afraid to walk into the room, because last week the tech didn't turn on the light and I tripped over a black metal foot stool. I ran into it hard w/my shin and I am still feeling it. I'll ask my acupuncturist to check it out and see what's going on there. There goes my career as a soloist in the ballet. Tonight my shins and I will make creamy chicken penne. Both dh and ds enjoy this dish and I will happily make it for them. There will be salad for dh, as well. What's on your menu? Have a peaceful day and a week full of positive news.

Well, we missed the Super Bowl last night. Not that I was rooting for anyone, but I really wanted to see Justin Timberlake and the commercials!! Daughter sprained her ankle during the basketball game. Unfortunatly, that was the last game she will play this season since she can't play for 4 to 6 weeks. Good news was that it was not broken. 2 starters went out in the first half. Not good for a team that still hasn't won a game. So we spent the afternoon at urgent care with all the sick people. Now we are just praying that we don't get sick! Oh my, the coughing going on there. Tonight are the Indian Tacos we did not have last night. Happy acupuncture day!

I have had a lovely relaxing day. As usual for a Monday, I started with my German class - today we chatted about trash; how we can reduce it and the German ways of separating it for recycling, and - totally randomly - about babies and pacifiers! After that, I came home and have been getting a craft activity ready for kinder tomorrow - it is Fasching (Karneval) next week, so we are decorating Jester hats. Dinner tonight is the leftovers of last week's chicken curry, which I froze in anticipation of DH being away this week. It is nice not to have to think of easy and healthy dinners for one all the time when he travels.

Super Bowl leftovers, or pastrami leftovers, or steak and baked potato leftovers. No need to cook!

scrappert, glad that your dd didn't fracture her ankle, but a sprain still needs attention. Did they make everyone wear masks, at least?

scrappert , glad that your dd didn't fracture her ankle, but a sprain still needs attention. Did they make everyone wear masks, at least? Yes, all were wearing masks! She did stay home today, we did not have a lot of time last night to get the swelling down and iced. So she will move around on her crutches today to get used to them and get ibuprofen in her, ice it every couple of hours. Tomorrow she will go to school.

I have pork chops, but can't decide which one of the many recipes I have bookmarked I want to make today. I will most likely go with my my defualt when I can't decide what to make....sheet pan dinner. Now all I have to do is choose which seasoning to use. So many tough decisions for a Monday! scrappert, sorry about dd's injury. I hope she heals quickly! I feel bad for her and her teammates that they've never won a game.

I made the Sunday roast I didn't make yesterday.
It's -14 C here...that's WITHOUT the wind chill. And it'll be colder tomorrow! And even colder on Wednesday!! I would prefer to stay inside until Thursday, but unfortunately, that's not an option.

Dh and dd will have hamburgers on buns. When I get home I’ll heat up a chicken sausage and steam some broccoli. Two coworkers lost a parent each late last week so I’m attending wakes after work today and tomorrow. These folks were 91 and 94 years old...still difficult for the families so I’ll lend my support.

First I want to thank everyone for all of your support and well wishes for me yesterday ... it wasn't easy to tell my story but I feel comfortable and safe here with you ... thanks again I'm taking this week off and then I start my programs on Monday ... I'm nervous but determined I have no idea what we are having for dinner ... dh doesn't want me to knock myself out yet so it will be something simple ... we will go to the store later and find the ingredients for a dish that takes little effort

For our dining pleasure this evening we will be enjoying chicken noodle soup. It is up to 14 degrees (F) but now we are in the middle of a blizzard. So I am taking another snow day and am vacuuming the downstairs......wish I had a cleaning person....I'm so done with winter.....
Happy Monday Everybody!

Your poor DD, scrappert! My DD's lacrosse team never wins. They go out there and give it their all every single time, but the other teams in our area have many more opportunities for development than we do. I went to middle school with a women who lives in a neighboring district and her DD is same age as mine and plays lacrosse too. She is constantly going to clinics and camps. Our school is much poorer. We just don't even have those opportunities. But our girls have fun despite this. This sinus infection is still kicking my ass. I am quite tempted to pick up dinner somewhere on my way home instead of cook it. But I did take chicken out to have sesame ginger chicken tonight.

They go out there and give it their all every single time This is them, too. They give it their all! Last year they almost won every game, so they put them in a different group this year. Well, that would be fine, but 2 of the girls from our team moved. So we suck now! LOL On their last tournament - for the conciliation match - they won! Winning points (3 pointer) on the last 40 seconds of the game. Very exciting.

scrappert, I'm sorry about your poor girlie! Hope she is up and about quickly. We're having chicken fried rice tonight (this afternoon, sigh) because it's the 8yo's favorite and I haven't made it in a while. I do have to say I've enjoyed my tae-kwon-do-free six weeks while he was in his cast (yes, I'm a bad grandma), but we're headed back tonight. So now we're back to early-bird dinners at 5:00 on weeknights.

We were going to have stuffed peppers, but DH has had some form of peppers for several days in a row and his stomach is not happy about it. I will probably make some breaded chicken and some sort of mild side - buttered noodles or something. And a vegetable.

littlemama, I'm guessing he didn't use sesame oil. It makes all the difference in the world. Here is the recipe I use: Better-than-takeout chicken fried rice - Rachel Schultz
Important notes: (1) cook the rice in advance and refrigerate it. For some reason that always works better for fried rice. (2) I start cooking the carrots a few minutes before I add the other veggies, or else they're still hard when everything else is done. Also, I don't add the frozen peas until the very end, or they'll be overdone. (3) I use Costco chicken or any leftover chicken or pork or whatever meat I have sitting around, and I toss in whatever veggies are in the fridge, especially zucchini and diced cabbage, just because I love them. Today I don't have any cabbage because I put it all in the soup last night, but I think there's some baby spinach in there, so I'll probably include that.

lucyg, thank you for sharing your yummy recipe. leannec, if you want to go do takeout tonight you are more than welcome to do so. Take it very easy this week and give yourself a huge break. Nervousness about your new program is normal, but you've been through the worst. When you go through the pain that lead you here, you look back and realize that there was no need to be afraid to face it. You are much stronger than any past hurt and you will thrive. Meanwhile, you have a whole dinner table full of folks who are here to support you as you go through this. We'll be there to give you lots of hugs, high fives and more hugs.

Jeez, we have GOT to do some major grocery shopping! We haven't done a real shopping trip since we moved, just picked up stuff here and there as we needed it. My plan was to use up any and all of the extra foodstuffs we moved with us since we really don't have space to store extras like we did in MD. However, every time I want or need something, turns out we don't have it and a trip to the store has to be made before we can get dinner together. Arrrrgh!! Even though I have some chicken enchiladas in the freezer, we're out of Monterey Jack cheese and refried beans to finish off the meal. So, another stinkin' trip to the store. We have GOT to do some major grocery shopping!! ![]()

I've got chicken thighs in the crock pot with bbq sauce. We will shred them and make sliders. I'm not sure of the sides yet. Maybe chips since we have some leftover from yesterday. Sliced veggies with hummus?

We have used sesame oil in the past and found the flavor overwhelming, but I think he definitely needs to use it for this!

Busy day today so leftovers of vegetable loaded pizza and some tasty hummus with multi-grain crackers. Not to be outdone by the healthiness of all of that, I found some terribly unhealthy ice cream at the store today. It's meringue ice cream with lemon sauce and chunks of graham crackers in it. We'll see. Thanks for the thread. Enjoy the needles! Hugs leannec . Hugs and arrows of support!

I thought it was a bit chilly today when I was out for my afternoon walk, but I'll shut up now. It was 52 degrees today. I know DH will be having a steak and a veggie side. I need to log into WW and take care of recording my meals today. I got lazy last week and didn't write down everything I ate and, not surprisingly, I didn't lose anything last week. Tedious, but so important to keep track of my eating. leannec, hang in there girl. Come by here anytime to chat and feel the love.

I am tired of the sound of coughing! I am ready for the kids to get better.
Tonight I made beef meatballs with brown gravy, mashed potatoes and peas. Good comfort food for the recovering sickies.
I am the lone holdout, and praying it stays that way. I do not have time to be sick. I have been "lysol-ing" EVERYTHING! washing my hands a million times a day, and so far, I am well.
