This took awhile, but I'm happy with the way it came out. I turned the template on its side to suggest fireworks. jane, thank you for suggesting this challenge. It was a big pain in the butt. Still, it forced me to begin to sort though all the scraps I've been holding onto for too long, and now I have ideas for some of those. Your layout and cards are beautiful. I'm going to try my hand at a few birthday cards sometime in the future in an attempt to use up more of my scraps. stinkerbelle, It's screaming Christmas! what else could you do with a photo like that? So much fun! grammadee, I love all the gold throughout. It looks really special. Those girls are going to love it! @elaynef, beautiful card - I'm glad you put the bird on it! nylene, your page is so sweet! I love the colors you picked out for her patin, your page feels exciting and full of energy. I love how we're all using the same design with such different results! woodysbetty, all those little squares! That's more than twice the number on mine. It must have taken you a long time to make your page, but it came out really awesome! What a great week this has been - can't wait for tomorrow's challenge!

grammadee ooh love! I really like how you added the hearts in amongst the diamonds! Very pretty page @elaynef your valentine is so sweet! I’m sure your bff will love it! Very clever use of those printables you weren’t planning to use nylene love how the colors of your page pop off the kraft background! Very pretty! patin I’m like you, love the Halloween but no trick-or-treaters to scrap—so glad the neighbor boys will let you take their picture. Your layout is great, love all the awesome Halloween goodness! woodysbetty I really like how you changed the template/sketch up a bit and all the colorful scraps! What a gorgeous page! msliz I agree, a pain in the butt to make but fun pages in the end, eh? I love your idea of turning the sketch to resemble fireworks, very clever!

I made a valentine for my bff. I had to sneak that scrap with the bird on it because I love it so much. The grey pieces were printables I've had for a long time. Never thought I would use them. I'm good for something then - providing the reason to use something I think it's a lovely card, using supplies you have and making them work.

What the heck is wrong with me? Why have I kept all these freaking tiny bits of paper? It's a sickness! I probably shouldn't laugh sorry...

Here is mine. I know it doesn't follow the template exactly, but I don't do anything digitally so wouldn't know how to use a template anyway! LOL. I just cut all the squares. Some fit better than others. I'm blaming my paper trimmer, of course. Concentration by Nylene Budge, on Flickr If you don't know how to use a template then I'm the Queen of England It's excellent! You looked at the idea and made your own version; that's using a template in my book. I love the colours and patterns, and even how the colours are pulled from the photo. And why didn't I think of putting a heart in the top corner, it works so well

Day 6 Template Challenge. A traditional paper scrapbook page for me today. Jane, I thought you "had" me on this one, but once I put my thinking cap on, it came together quite easily. Thank you for challenging us. I apologize for the picture of the "boys." I usually print on an "as needed basis"( as I often do digital ) & I didn't have a 6"x8" photo, so printed it out on my home printer, until I get to town. I used a lot of Echo Park The Apothecary Emporium & My Mind's Eye Frightful Halloween paper. I am totally a sucker for Halloween but you are looking at our only 2 annual trick or treaters, as we live out in the country. I beg these neighbor boys to stop in every year & try to make it worth their while with full size candy bars. I take a picture every year (I am lucky they will stand still for that) & hope to give them a small album at graduation. IMG_1567 by Pati Nuce, on Flickr No need to apologise, it's a great page. Like grammadee's with the dark background it makes the colours stand out and it's perfect for the theme. Even to the touch with Boo! poking out from behind the photo

JaneB thanks for the challenge!! It really gave me a few hours of fun!! Did a random page about the Eagles winning Superbowl, my journaling outlines that we watched with friends without really caring about the game as our teams weren't in it. But the game was so exciting we were glued to the set!! Fun time! I'm glad you enjoyed it, and the page is lovely. I'm most in awe of scrapping a football game with no sight of a football or player or any other related items - that's brilliant!

@elaynef I love that feeling of using something you thought would be in your stash forever. I think the bird is a beautiful accent here.

Ok, I know..... I've gone a little off piste with this! I really struggled with this template and I'd decided to change the squares/diamonds into circles. Then I remembered this colourful LO that I have had hanging around for ages and it reminded me of the template. So I added the colourful frame and I have got the tags behind the photo as well. My fabulous title was black but I wanted to make it shiny last night and thought I'd picked up the clear Nuvo Drops.... except I used the glittery clear one by mistake. So the title should be black but it's not. Oh well, these things happen right!

Love those splashes of colour in on your page, kiwigirl. Really makes me want to dig through my mixed media and play. Here is a companion page to go with my take on the challenge. I will claim it as WW1 (the stretch challenge), but thought I would link it here. Uses the diamond shape: just a lot bigger. sisters forever 1 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

Thanks linda, msliz, grammadee and mikklynn for the comments on my page! I was trying to copy an awesome LO on YouTube using Gelatos and mine didn't end up looking much like it at all. So I wasn't happy with it and chucked it aside. So it wasn't my idea, I can't even find the video I was trying to copy. Mixed media isn't really my lane but I love it so I try every now and then!

Ok, I love the diamond template, but do the squares have to be on the diamond in order to count? I may try to do this one, again, later as it is, but I have a LO I just did with multiple squares in a grid. Does that work for this, too JaneB grammadee ?

However you interpret the challenge is up to you! Bring on the grid LO! And you can do the diamonds later: no limit on how many times you can take on one challenge!

The diamond frame is so striking and the gold just pops! KikiPea love your interpretation! So many photos but it doesn’t look cluttered at all…fabulous page!

I like how you've arranged the squares/diamonds across the top of the page here, and your photos along the bottom, it works well. The squares might be a pain to do, yet all the variations people have created show it's quite a versatile design.
