Oh that makeup sounds horrendous ugh!! Being duped by a friend is the worst!
My rant is the weather! We got a foot of snow here so I'm snowed in at the house I'm staying at. I'm going out of my mind.
I can't just chill in the living room and watch tv because the host and another guest are in there.
I am not up to being chatty with the guest ugh.
I just miss being in my own space being able to watch tv.
I've been hanging in my bedroom trying to keep from being bored out of my mind.
Oh and the other guest who was up at 4 am and in the washroom making racket for an hour didn't help.
I sound like a bag don't I UGH!!

Oh, being duped for a sales pitch is the worst. We had that happen years ago when a couple invited us over and it was an Amway pitch. My rant? I broke a tooth last week. I can't get in for the crown for 2 weeks. My dentist did take a look at it in a brief emergency appointment. Well, in trying not to eat on that side, I've irritated the gums on the other side of my mouth, like a scratch. Damn it! Ouch I'm sorry you are in pain!! |

My rant is to myself.... What is wrong with you?  ? You should be happy but you are not, you should be excited but you are not, you should be smiling but instead all you do is cry. Your friends and family are very confused. For once in the last 10 years BE HAPPY DAMNIT!!! Be gentle on yourself.
As for my rant. The heat in my apartment is hot. But when I turn it off it bangs and clangs to the point where I can't sleep. I left the window open last night with the heat on and it was still too damn hot. But then I get annoyed with myself for complaining at all because there are so many people in NYC right now that don't have heat (its been a big news story) and its frigid.
I hear you. I cannot control my heat, super does. We always have the windows open. I complain to the landlord and tell them the it is almost literally money going out the window. On 311, you can complain about not enough heat, but not too much... |

I have a work vent. My minion put in his two weeks' notice last Thursday (his last day is next Friday). Has my program manager talked to me about ANYTHING yet? No. At least not until this afternoon AFTER work when he called to ask me to sit in on two telephone interviews tomorrow ON MY DAY OFF for the temp fill-in for my minion in NM who is going on deployment a week from this coming Monday! Oh, and they are NOT filling my main minion's position, at least not from outside. They're going to fill it with someone on our less-than-20-people contract because the contract budget is about to get cut (because of the prime's total ineptitude and our PM's refusal to take any staffing requirements to the contract office - the other half of our contract doesn't have enough bodies to fulfill the contractual obligations for their part). SO... that means that I will get whomever the contract is saying isn't really needed. Yay. There's ONE person that would be a good fit because he's technical enough and comes from a network and sys admin background to be able to understand the data we deal with and to pick up the rest - which means that he will NOT be the one of course (because losing him will hurt the other half more than losing just about anyone else). PM and our technical manager both said they'll probably have to go out to NM some and I said why because they can't DO the work to be able to make sure whatever new person we get out there can handle it.
Good thing I don't have any vacation scheduled.
Oh, and it looks like we're going into a government shutdown AGAIN. WE're funded through the end of March (and I will be stuck working past that regardless), but still. Ugh.

It is February in Ottawa, 7 to 10 cm of snow is not a winter storm it is a winter day. You DO NOT need to leave work early every freaking time it snows. If you can't drive in snow take the damn bus but stop leaving me with all your shit to do because it is a winter day in Ottawa. lol!! someone needs to move from ottawa - i live in toronto i joke with friends when it is cloudy in toronto, there is 10 cm of snow falling in ottawa (and likely in buffalo as well)!! i got a weird email from a woman i used to work that seemed to hate my guts the ENTIRE time we worked together. i left that team (but still work for the company from home) over a year ago... we have become "friendly" since i left. she sent an email to me and another woman that also used to work in the office saying "good to know you guys only talk to me when you need something.". i was like wtf??? yes, i asked her for a copy of form letter her (my former boss) uses that existed before either of us worked there. i visit her every time i am in the office, brought her cookies from the company i did some part time work with in december and refused to take money, proof read her marketing piece last time i was in, brought her some candies that i always had in my desk that she mentioned recently that she missed. i emailed her back "excuse me? that is a bit harsh, i visit whenever i come into the office but my boss has been away for two weeks and my entire family has been sick so i haven't been in. i didn't mean to hurt your feeling, i hope you are okay". her reply "see, exactly what i meant, only when convenient for you. sorry to hear about fam being sick tho, that sucks. i am fine, i just decided to stop biting my tongue". i am not sure why she thinks we are even friends??? i have had a health scare recently and am in the process of separating from my husband after 18 years of marriage - sorry i haven't had time to pop in and say "hi". ridiculous! i am laying low and have not been into the office. i can print shit off at home with less drama!!!! |

rickmer, you are so right about the Toronto Ottawa thing. I grew up just outside Toronto and man does it snow a ton in Ottawa. Sorry to hear you are going through a rough time. Hope things start looking up soon. Ex co-worker is definitely weird and should be avoided in the future
