I was duped into "modeling" for a friend who is "learning how" to become a makeup artist. Well she isn't exactly. She wants to be a famous presenter for LipSense and is sending all these messages to mothers on this local Facebook group about being a model for her when it's actually a one-on-one grab to buy LipSense and their other products. She said she has to do 50 different women models in the next year to get this certification.
I went along with it. I let her put the makeup on my skin. OMG it's crap! My skin was blotchy and sticky and I couldn't wait to rinse off the foundation and primer. Seriously it was that bad. It is very cheaply made and is an expensive "a luxury brand" as she called it.
I tried their lipsticks and it tasted like spraying my lips with hairspray and I could taste it all day long. The colour of one of them was really good and I am searching for that colour as I had an Estée Lauder liquid lipstick in that colour and loved it forever. Well only the lower lip showed up and it lasted all of an hour. She showed me the gloss and stuff. What a waste of money.
She tried to tell me that their lash serum is great because it has peptides in it. Yeah, I use generic Latisse which they recommend at the cancer centre (we have a cancer care nurse family friend) and she knows all about Latisse. I looked at her like "you believe this?" but I was polite. I said nothing and just nodded my head.
Ugh. This was just awful. I really wanted to like the lipsticks but they were just disgusting. The makeup was even worse.

My rant? I broke a tooth last week. I can't get in for the crown for 2 weeks. My dentist did take a look at it in a brief emergency appointment. Well, in trying not to eat on that side, I've irritated the gums on the other side of my mouth, like a scratch. Damn it!

We also live in the bomb squad training center of the US and today seems to be THE day for a whole lotta training exercises. Super. To top it off....the facility is several miles away but I live at the base of the mountain so allll that noise just bounces off. I'm glad I don't work tonight but I did work last night and I'm pooped.

When we were having problems a couple of months ago with car thefts in our neighborhood (perp was caught -- was a teen boy a family took into their homes out of the goodness of their hearts), one of my neighbors had a car alarm installed on his truck. Well, he's not going to have to worry about it getting stolen. He's going to have to worry about one of us taking a baseball bat to it. EVERY night, it goes off 2-5 times. It also goes off during the day. I was walking the dogs down the opposite side of the street one day when it started blaring. Nothing and no one was near it. I am so freaking tired of getting woken up in the middle of the night by his stupid alarm. Newsflash: if someone is breaking into your car, NO ONE is going to do anything. Even apparently you, since I have never ONCE seen you come out of your house to look at your car when the alarm is blaring. Idiot. Rude idiot. |

If they sold them as pairs what happens to the rooster? Soup? That isn't funny once a rooster becomes a pet. I have chickens 100 feet away from my bedroom window but they are all hens and they only get noisy when the guy finally feeds them in the morning. I think they are back in the coop now as I don't hear a sound. |

The format is so wonky. I don't know what's going on. Finally figured it out and they changed the format. This one is a bigger mess.
Ok, I'm getting the hang of it.
Now the thing is, people's writing is so horrible, I can't understand what their point is. And I'm supposed to interact and ask questions. Once I didn't understand and asked politely:
I said, " I'm sorry. I may be misunderstanding the question, but I took it to mean xyz. Could you clarify please?" and I got all kinds of attitude that I was not helpful to my fellow students.
IT'S AUTHOR NOT ARTHUR!!!

Like, why were the quizes in the FILES section and not in the TEST section? And when I was a GTA during that time, I was shocked at how poorly some of my students wrote and expected me to just overlook everything. If you cannot spell "a lot" by the time you are a senior in college, I cannot overlook that. My husband is taking online classes too and we are both struggling to navigate his course. He also has a message board and the writing is so awful, you can hardly understand what the writer is intending to say. Good luck with school and getting through all of this!!! SaveSave |

Conversely, I think the shin must be one of the slowest healing parts. 2 months and the minor wound I have is almost - almost - healed, but on Friday (all being well) it will be being opened up again but this time instead of a 1/2” incision it will be a 3-4” incision. God only knows how long that will take to heal. I’m glad it’s getting sorted but a) nervous about the anaesthetic and b) worried about the healing time |

As for my rant. The heat in my apartment is hot. But when I turn it off it bangs and clangs to the point where I can't sleep. I left the window open last night with the heat on and it was still too damn hot. But then I get annoyed with myself for complaining at all because there are so many people in NYC right now that don't have heat (its been a big news story) and its frigid.

Of course, I wouldn't really do that or embarrass my 'friend' but I would have totally felt vindictive in that situation. I really don't like any of that LipSense stuff either. It does feel so awful!

My grumble today is about Weight Watchers.
I joined WW (Online only) a month ago. I have a lot of weight to lose and I’m struggling. I joined several WW Facebook groups to learn, get tips & tricks and for inspiration and recipes.
Instead, I find myself being irratated, majorly annoyed and discouraged. . My FB feed is full of success stories of women who are losing 6-7 lbs A WEEK! I know this is not a competition, but geeze. I’m a sloooooow loser and lose less than a lb a week. When people ask how they lost that much each week they just say they are “following the program!” Ugh.
The final straw was this morning when a member posted that she lost 17 lbs the first week. How depressing. I lost 1/2 lb. Big Whoop.
I’m currently in the process of making sure all WW groups no longer show up in my feed. I don’t need to read those posts all day, everyday.

I'm sorry, I know how frustrating it can be when you feel like your body isn't working how it should and how it seems others' bodies are. You do all the right things, and little to no loss. Meanwhile SuzyQ does the exact same things and she's a dress size smaller. So dang disheartening! Know that the 17 pound weight loss wasn't all, or even mostly fat. I imagine she had a very high salt diet before and lost a lot of water weight. Good for you for joining and doing something to improve your health, I hope you start seeing more weight loss soon! eta: I couldn't get this out of my head because I am facing the same issue, losing so very slowly and such a long way to go. I think that the people who are posting are the outliers. They're excited and want to shout from the rooftops, which I get. But the people who are struggling probably aren't posting, I'm sure there are tons of them as well. Maybe your counselor know of a group that could better meet your needs? |

I am volunteering my time to work in the school. I am polite and do everything that is asked of me by staff. I have mopped a floor, I have swept up after lunch, I have cut out bulletin boards to name a few. I love to do it and have no complaints, until yesterday.
I realize some staff do not appreciate or want volunteers. I get it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. However, I have signed a confidentiality agreement as part of home and school council and as a volunteer. I shouldn't be chastised for “staying in the staff room while my lunch heats up.” Nobody in there were talking about students, in fact quite the opposite. The staff that was chatting with me were having a laugh with me and I was not asked to leave.
If a parent volunteer is giving her time to help out, the least she can do is be able to warm up her lunch. I did not linger or eat in the staff room. I went back to the classroom and ate with the students. I think it’s ridiculous for the principal to have to apologize for having to tell me that a staff thought I “overstepped my boundaries.”
No wonder nobody wants to volunteer at our school. Sheesh.

All the lines of volunteering:
I make cupcakes for bake sales , and cupcakes/cake for birthday parties for the group my daughter was involved in. I have been doing this for free almost ten years. I laugh that I have been with this group longer than my daughter.
But this year? I have just had it with them, after a new girl sent me a text, meg, remember to bring the cupcakes today. I think the problem only one girl knows me in the group and to the rest, I am just the crazy lady that shows up with cake.
I was going to do this for one more year, but I feel ready to be done with them. But then I will feel guilty because they will nearly a grand if I quit.
The big problem is none of the other mothers/ dads are going to step in to take over.

So mine is petty. I’m salty about a teacher that wouldn’t let us ask a question about a test question we all got wrong. She was rude, and is supposed to go over it... I’m just irritated. The wording was bad, hence the fact we all missed it. Grrr. 🙄

My rant is to myself.... What is wrong with you? ? You should be happy but you are not, you should be excited but you are not, you should be smiling but instead all you do is cry. Your friends and family are very confused. For once in the last 10 years BE HAPPY DAMNIT!!! Hugs to you, whether you feel you need or deserve them or not. Is there anyone you can talk to?  SaveSave |
