High school graduations are in full swing here. We have 40 public school districts, 118 private schools and 14 colleges/universities in my county. Seems like all the commencements were this weekend!

An "arrogant, majestic cougar" is making a suburb nervous Day care operators smoke medical marijuana in the house while the children in their care are present There are so many cats at the local animal shelter that they can be adopted for the price of a license ($12.00) Is the cougar a cat or a woman? Could be BOTH!

The Grand Depart will be passing this way in just over a week. (Tour de France comes to Yorkshire). No, I don't get it either.
Ikea is coming to Sheffield. Whoop.
That's about as exciting as it gets.

I live outside of Chicago. The headline on my news ticker this evening was 29 people shot in Chicago since Friday. One million people at the Chicago Gay Pride parade today, and everything went off without a hitch- none of the shootings were related to that event, thank goodness. That's a lot of people in a relatively small area.

A 16 year old delivered a healthy baby at her home on Sunday and buried it in the backyard, the parents became suspicious and called police. Girl now in hospital recovering from birth, everyone else so upset. --I really think our society should accept children of any age from parents that don't want them. I'd have taken that little baby or poor, sweet handsome little Connor.

A football star has been sacked after a social media photo scandal. He had his $3 million contract torn up after posting a photo of himself "bubbling" or "doing a bubbler" after his team lost the game. "bubbling" is urinating in your own mouth which according to our paper has become a craze amongst youngsters. Seriously, who knew this was a thing now? Silly, silly boy. He had 2 previous warnings after misdemeanors involving alcohol. Wtf!! Omg, seriously never even heard of this! Our headlines are: *Remembering the Yarnell 19 hotshot firefighters (one year ago) *San Juan fire in eastern AZ *Decomposed body found in abandoned house *Woman broke her neck in golf cart rollover

The top two for this morning are:
1) Police suspect alcohol use in accident that killed Philip Lutzenkirchen (he's an Auburn football player) 2) Where does that billboard phrase, 'Anti-racist is a code word for anti-white,' come from? It's not new
The Billboard phrase article is quite intriguing. It is in my hometown and it apparently just showed up over night. The Mayor is upset..pearls are being clutched.

Our local paper "dug out some amazing old footage" of the city centre....from 1985! Good God, if this is old, I'm an ancient relic! It's been the driest June for 50 years Well-wishers 'have donated more than £4,350 to a city cancer centre after "lowest of the low" burglars broke in and stole takings from its summer fair'. (That's nice People visited a jobs fair I might go and peruse the lists of people who have been to court now - that's normally a laugh!

Great thread! I also love reading news headlines from over the world.
Here today the front page of the paper is about Rolf Harris being found guilty of child sex abuse. I'm sure this made front page news in the UK as well.
Also, the story about 19yo Aussie tennis player Nick Kyrgios beating Rafael Nadel at Wimbledon. YAY!!!!
The other big story is about the homeless man who has been extradited from NSW to Victoria to face charges over the murder of a woman near the Botanic Gardens on Saturday.

Yes, except the "youngster" in this case is a 28 year old man. A grown adult for goodness sake!!!!
What on earth was he thinking? In what universe is it fun to piss in your own mouth? Seriously, what a dick.

A grandma and grandpa and 5 year old boy who are missing from Calgary under suspicious circumstances.
Canada day events
A drunk dude that a few years ago killed a young kid while driving on Canada day, recently was sentenced to under two years, even though he had another DUI while out awaiting trial. It's being used as a think safe drive sober today message.
