Hi,
We are thinking about getting a whole house humidifier. My DS gets bloody noses; so I was hoping the peas can help.
Do any of you have one? Have you seen a difference having one? Can you tell me the pros and cons of having one? Is there one product that is better than another? Where is the best place to put it in the house?

We recently put one in as part of our new furnace system. The rest of the system is Carrier, but I'm not sure what the humidifier part is. It's only been in since Thanksgiving, but we've definitely noticed a difference. No more nose bleeds this year. I'm very happy with it. Ours is in the basement attached to the furnace.

We have two humidifiers as we have two furnaces. Each is attached to the furnace and adds humidity as the air leaves the furnace. You set the humidity levels and it monitors and adjusts to make sure your humidity is at the set point. They're Honeywells. It makes a huge difference.

I will never live in a house without one. Ours is a unit attached to the furnace. So when the furnace blows the air goes through the humidifier, picks up moisture and then on into the house. Ours is Honeywell & we’ve had the brand before.
We just moved into a new house and the first few days the temp was such that our furnace didn’t kick on much. That meant. The humidifier wasn’t kicking on. My skin got SO dry! My oldest, who is prone to nose bleeds, was having them daily. Even my youngest was getting a few. We cranked up the humidifier level so once it got a little colder & the heater kicked on it would really work. It makes such a difference.
If you have a lot of wood furniture, you might notice a difference by having a humidifier too. The 1st house we had didn’t have one. Our new bed cracked where the side hooked into the foot board. When the company came out to carry out the warranty they said it could have been caused by really dry conditions and suggested a humidifier.

This was what we had at our old house and we loved it. We added it on when we had our furnace replaced and I want to say it was about another $500 or so. Worth every penny too. Our current house has hot water heat so no way to add a whole house humidifier to the system we have now and I really miss the convenience of it. We have a couple of room humidifiers that we only run at night in the bedrooms while we’re sleeping and I have to fill the 3-4 gallon water container every couple days which is a huge hassle.

Thank you everyone for sharing your information on your humidifiers. We have our furnace in the basement and an air conditioning unit on the first floor and the second floor. We are hoping that if we install one it will help. I never thought because my skin is so dry that the humidifier would help,
