I have some brand loyalty but in the interest of my wallet I'm trying to branch out some. So do you think they are the same? Are you picking about specific items bring brand name? Have you tried any generic items that didn't cut it?

If there is an HEB/Central Market option that is cheaper, 9 times out of 10 I will buy it. I also like the 365 brand or the TJs brand for body wash/soap.

I like to do my grocery shopping at Meijer and I will say that 95% of the time I will interchange their store brand for a name brand and no one notices the difference. I am not very brand loyal in most things, I just buy what is cheapest.

I think I'm around 60/40 generic to brand loyal. There are some things I can't do generic because of quality (trash bags, paper towels, toilet paper) and then there are generics I buy (aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamins) because the labels are pretty much identical.

It depends on the item for me ... I'm pretty brand loyal but one local store (Superstore) has a house brand called President's Choice that has a lot of really good products ... I especially love their spaghetti sauce

We shop at Publix. I buy a lot of their store brands but there are a few things I only buy the name brand:Bounty paper towels, Cottonelle toilet paper, Campbells's soup, Goldfish (my secret indulgence), Kraft salad dressing and mayo,Nature's Own bread.
Publix brands I always buy:yogurt, milk, 1/2 & 1/2, pasta, nut bars, butter me not biscuits, eggs, egg stirs, cheese.

We use brand name and generic products. We'll try generic and see if we like it. If we do, we'll stick with it. If not, we'll use the brand name.
The only things I am not even willing to even try generic for is: mayonnaise, peanut butter and soups.
Big Y is where I do most of my shopping so their brand will be the ones I use for examples. I like their: butter (it's less salty than Cabot), solid white tuna, the kids will eat the yogurt, deli meats, canned stewed tomatoes, canned peaches, canned mandarins, pasta, jarred garlic & onion pasta sauce, jarred hearty garden style pasta sauce, hamburger and hotdog rolls, bakery breads, generic Oreos, frozen broccoli and frozen cauliflower, paper goods, and bleach. We DON'T LIKE their: mac & cheese, flavored noodles or rice that comes in a pouch like the Knorr brand, plastic zipper bags, plastic wrap, granola bars, bakery muffins, bakery donuts, Pop Tarts, and saltines.
Don't forget to price check because depending on that weeks sales sometimes name brand can be cheaper so be sure to check the prices each time. Also, generic is only good if you like the taste or performance of the product.
It's definitely worth trying things out. If you are brave enough to talk to strangers in the store, when you see someone putting a generic in their carriage consider asking them what makes them like it.

For me it depends on the product. We only eat Best Foods/Hellmans mayo, but for TP we use Kirkland brand.

It depends on the products for me too. I like the Meijer Organics, which is a store brand.

It depends but mostly I will stick to whatever is cheapest.. I have to have Heinz Ketchup though. Most anything else is fair game.

I will try the store brand/generic version of just about anything, but things I have to have by brand are Heinz ketchup, Newman's Own Olive Oil and Vinegar dressing, Clinique Take The Day Off eye makeup remover, and Diet Dr Pepper. I'm sure there are others I'm not thinking of right now but those are essential!

Wegmans and Aldi's have great quality items under their brand name. I used to exclusively use Dawn because all other dish soaps were inferior, but surprisingly enough, Wal-Mart's Great Value equivalent is just as good.

I have some brand loyalty but in the interest of my wallet I'm trying to branch out some. So do you think they are the same? Are you picking about specific items bring brand name? Have you tried any generic items that didn't cut it? Some food items I will shy away from, just after trying them. Some have taste variations. One thing I did learn is a lot of generic items in stores are made by name brand manufacturers, so yes, I totally buy generic or store brands.

We generally get whatever's cheapest, but we always get Premium Saltines. No other saltine cracker will do.

Depends on what I am buying.
If it is laundry soap we stick to the tide brand. That is the only soap we can use without having rash issues. even though costco brand is pretty close to the real thing. We do use costco brand (Kirkland) for a lot of stuff. Dawn is another one I will not use generic.
If I am going to drink soda I will not use store brand. I don't drink that much almost none. but I do how ever like a root beer every so often and 7up with my alcohol when I do drink.
When it comes to canned green beans it has to be del monte. husband will only eat it if it is delmonte and it has to be french(fancy) cut.
There are some others that we do name brand but stuff like advil, and benedryl and that kind of stuff we will get the store brand. mostly kirkland because we buy it in bulk.....
I would say we are 50/50 on name brand veruses store brand.
but mayo has to be BEST FOODS!

I think we're 50/50. A few brand names that come to mind Tide, Best Foods Mayo, Jif Peanut Butter, Dennisons Chili, Orowheat Bread, Hidden Valley Ranch dressing, breakfast cereal and Hebrew National hot dogs.

I shop at Publix, and almost exclusively buy their store brands. I rarely have any kinds of complaints. On the rare occasions that I do, their customer service is so good that I know I could say something and get a refund (even with an empty can-they are that good.)
Toilet paper would be one area that I buy name brand. For some reason, Publix thinks that tissue with the consistency of notebook paper is okay for sensitive girly bits. LOL

I will try the generic brand and see how it is - sometimes I will keep buying or I may try another brand. One thing I stay with brand names is laundry products, have never found a generic that worked as well.

I am pretty brand name loyal and I know that costs me. I have branched out to Kirkland Signature (Costco brand) and am mostly happy with it, but my experience is less favorable when trying any brand I'm not used to.

I used to be very brand loyal, because I only remember name products growing up (which is dumb, it's not like we had a ton of money. But maybe generics sucked then? who knows!) Anyway, now I don't really care on most items. There are some generics I really like. Especially organic store brands. There's a few things I'm really particular about buying SOME name brand, not a generic - namely: Body Wash (Dove or Bath & Body Works), Heinz ketchup, Saltine crackers, soda, orange juice, U by Kotex Tampons, hair stuff, peanut butter. Hmm, that might be it? Oh....Velveeta Shells & Cheese. I don't really buy that many packaged food items these days, so I think that has really eliminated some of my 'need' (in my head) be brand loyal. Fruits/Veggies/Eggs don't matter to me, rice is rice to me, and who cares what brand my chicken broth is, ya know?

In the past I was very brand loyal but lately money has been tight and I have been trying store brands. Some have been good others I wouldn't buy again.

I am not very brand loyal in most things, I just buy what is cheapest. I'm also a meijer shopper. About half is generic, half brand name. Things I use as ingredients are usually generic while some of the stand alone (such as granola bars) are brand name. There are a few things we can tell the difference and others we cannot.

Generic is fine for me for a lot of things, but for a few things, I'll stick to brands. Oreos, Jif peanut butter, Heinz ketchup, Ivory body wash (because I love the smell), Tide detergent and Gain softener (I love the smell of Gain, too).
