linkSF Gate... “ Their absence threatens segments of the largest state economy, including retailers, restaurants and the Central Valley’s $47 billion agricultural industry, which provides more than half of the fruits, nuts and vegetables in the country.”
From the article... Bloomberg) -- Maria’s husband spent the past 15 years pruning citrus trees on farms across California’s Central Valley. In that time, he’d become skilled enough to earn more than the state’s $11-an-hour minimum wage trimming branches for Sun Pacific, the company that brings the Cuties brand of mandarin oranges to grocers and tables across the U.S. After dropping off his kids at school Monday in Porterville, the father of five, who’d been arrested in 2014 for driving under the influence, was pulled over and detained by federal agents. The arrest was one of hundreds in a flurry of raids this week across the state as part of the Trump administration’s crackdown on undocumented immigrants. The conflict peaked politically this week after Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf warned residents on Saturday of an imminent sting, giving those without papers time to evade the sweeps. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said it had arrested 232 individuals over a four-day operation through Wednesday who were in violation of federal immigration laws, of which 115 had prior felony convictions.” Thomas Homan, the agency’s acting director, estimated earlier this week that more than 800 “criminal aliens” remained at large in the Bay Area and blamed the mayor in part for some of those misses, likening her warnings to “a gang lookout yelling ‘police.”’ The enforcement action is a direct response to California’s sanctuary policies, in which local agencies don’t cooperate with immigration enforcement. Both Trump’s opponents and some Trump supporters in California can agree on one thing: raids are bad for business. Reports of sweeps and high-profile detentions are terrifying the state’s undocumented population -- estimated at 2.6 million in 2015 -- who are scared to leave their homes. Both Trump’s opponents and some Trump supporters in California can agree on one thing: raids are bad for business. Reports of sweeps and high-profile detentions are terrifying the state’s undocumented population -- estimated at 2.6 million in 2015 -- who are scared to leave their homes. Ongoing Shortage Their absence threatens segments of the largest state economy, including retailers, restaurants and the Central Valley’s $47 billion agricultural industry, which provides more than half of the fruits, nuts and vegetables in the country. That broad, 450-mile swath of California yields an eighth of the country’s agricultural output. The farm industry is already struggling to find workers like Maria’s husband. More than 55 percent of 762 farmers and ranchers surveyed in a California Farm Bureau Federation report from October 2017 said half of their land continues to go unattended because of an ongoing labor shortage directly related to U.S. immigration policy. Of the state’s more than 2 million farm laborers, 1.5 million are undocumented, according to Tom Nassif, President of the Western Growers Association, a 92-year-old industry group representing farmers in California, Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico. Although Nassif and the association have supported Trump since the early days of his campaign, he says the raids and decades-old immigration policy for farm workers are harming the industry and state economy.” As usual trump and his minions don’t think this through. The same can be said about the Republican Farmers And Ranchers in CA’s Central Valley. Most who have used undocumented workers for decades and voted for trump. trump was clear what he was going to do yet a lot of these guys voted for trump. And it seems we are all going to be paying higher prices. Elections have consequences.

Not only paying high prices, we may not be able to find some things to buy. But the low-income people will get food boxes, may not be any canned fruits or veggies in them. Oh wait there will be fewer cans because of the can prices going up with the steel tariffs. Less food, more cost to make boxes.

Trump on new diet following physical exam: report BY JOSH DELK - 03/02/18 05:58 PM EST
President Trump is reportedly cutting back on junk food as part of a new diet.
The president, who frequently drinks Diet Coke and eats cheeseburgers, is taking recent doctor recommendations seriously, three people familiar with Trump's diet told Bloomberg News on Friday.
Navy Rear Adm. Dr. Ronny Jackson said after Trump's first physical exam as president in January that Trump was in overall "excellent" health. But the doctor's report also revealed that the 239-pound president is one pound away from being considered obese, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's body mass index calculator.

Guess this is affecting his attitude. Making him angry and out of control! how would we know?? he's always like that, isn't he?!? lol! ...and the immigration / agriculture post just makes me mad. Those people would probably like to come here legally, but there is no way for them to do it as migrant workers, etc. ---Did anyone see anywhere in the news that melania Trump came to the US (in the early 2000s 1980s? during the time she was dating Donald, imagine that) on what's commonly called a 'genius' Einstein Visa? (because typically people need to make some MAJOR contribution to science, etc. in order to get that kind of a visa approved?? She's one of about 1=2% of people only 3 or 4 people (something like that number) to come to the US on a Visa like that from around that time. Genius at WHAT, is what I want to know? She was a sort of up-and-coming model who had done a few runway shows and had been in Sports Illustrated's swimsuit issue. But they're not talking about THAT on Fox News, are they?!? Oh, of course not!

We've always know Texas does things differently, but........... Donations of deer semen make up majority of contributions in Texas candidate's race: reportBY AVERY ANAPOL - 03/02/18 03:11 PM EST A candidate in the race for a South Texas state House seat has reportedly received $87,500 in campaign donations — more than half of which is made up of deer semen. The Dallas News reported Thursday that Ana Lisa Garza, a district court judge running a primary challenge against eight-term Democrat Ryan Guillen, has received $51,000 in in-kind donations to her campaign, listed as individual donations of frozen deer semen straws. The containers are reportedly a common way for deer breeders in the state to donate to political campaigns. Garza's campaign has valued the straws at $1,000 each. Fred Gonzalez, a Texas deer breeder who serves as treasurer of the Texas Deer Association, told the Dallas News that the group’s political action committee has received more than $975,000 in deer semen donations since 2006, and has given more than $885,000 in the same period of time. On a roll here.............. Poor poor Roy............. Roy Moore pleads for money to cover legal feesBY JOHN BOWDEN - 03/02/18 06:58 PM EST Former Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore (R) is asking his supporters for help covering his mounting legal fees amid a lawsuit from a woman who says he touched her sexually when she was a young teen. ** "Gays, lesbians, and transgenders have joined forces with those who believe in abortion, sodomy, and destruction of all that we hold dear. Unless we stand together we will lose our Country." Moore adds that the legal costs and public nature of the accusations he faces has taken a toll on his family and bank account. ** "My resources have been depleted and I have struggled to make ends meet, but I have not lost my faith in our God, who is our true source of strength and will never leave or forsake us," he added. The Washington Post reports Moore has raised about $32,000 of the $250,000 he hopes to collect, and has been soliciting donations since at least January. Doesn’t matter if it’s true or not because the perception is there that Kushner, who family seems to need money, would do something like this.

Some fascinating facts there is an actual evacuation plan for The Liberty Bell . Since The Cold War the Post office was designated to register the dead but in 2009 Pres.Obama changed it being local delivery service for antibiotics or antichemical weapon medicine.

She speaks 6 languages? She did come with some kind of degree, but I forget what... Actually no. Her degree was fabricated. She attended university for a year, but dropped out. Her 6 languages are also a bit of stretch too. How she acquired them can hardly make her stand out as being very intelligent as some make out her to be. Anyone who had her upbringing and working record would achieve the same.It doesn't make you that "clever" Serbo-Croatian and Solvene are her native languages, both are spoken in equal parts in her country of birth. Not much use outside those countries though really......you wouldn't consider either as an international language. Her English, she probably had a few years of education in school for it, like most European schools. She worked in Milan for a time, she was bound to pick up Italian in her every day life. Same as French, she worked in Paris. Heck, I spent two weeks on a french exchange trip when I was at school and my french was extremely fluent by the time I left, along with my friends. To credit her with speaking five/six languages as something of an achievement is a bit of a stretch IMO.

Lies and the lying liar who tells them: Analyzing Trumps hundreds of lies in office. They break down lies into self-serving (t0 advantage the liar), kind (to advantage the hearer), and cruel (to just be a dick). "Trump told 6.6 times as many self-serving lies as kind ones. That's a much higher ratio than we found for our study participants, who told about double the number of self-centered lies compared with kind ones. The most stunning way Trump's lies differed from our participants', though, was in their cruelty. An astonishing 50 percent of Trump's lies were hurtful or disparaging. For example, he proclaimed that John Brennan, James Clapper and James Comey, all career intelligence or law enforcement officials, were "political hacks." He said that "the Sloppy Michael Moore Show on Broadway was a TOTAL BOMB and was forced to close." He insisted that other "countries, they don't put their finest in the lottery system. They put people probably in many cases that they don't want." And he claimed that "Ralph Northam, who is running for Governor of Virginia, is fighting for the violent MS-13 killer gangs & sanctuary cities.... By telling so many lies, and so many that are mean-spirited, Trump is violating some of the most fundamental norms of human social interaction and human decency. Many of the rest of us, in turn, have abandoned a norm of our own — we no longer give Trump the benefit of the doubt that we usually give so readily."" www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion/commentary/ct-donald-trump-liar-20171208-story.html
