Do adults realize how juvenile and ridiculous they sound when their speech is peppered with obscenities?
Some people seem to thing that throwing out the F word in a myriad of ways makes their point; no, it makes us roll our eyes.

I have friends who would never cuss and consider it bad taste, and I have friends who cuss like sailors. They are both extremely intelligent. I used to believe that swearing made you seem less intelligent, but now know that that just isn't true (for me) anymore. Personally, I do love a good cuss now and then. Cussing doesn't make me roll my eyes. It has just seeped into today's society. Cuss words don't have any power over me.

I don’t think people sound ‘juvenile and ridiculous’ when they do that and neither do I roll my eyes when they do.

I’m pretty sure everyone uses a swear word now and then. I’m talking about the people where every other word in every sentence has to contain an obscenity as if somehow that makes what they say more important

sometimes you need that pepper to get the point across. "What the pajamas?" just doesn't cut it for me.

It's not as juvenile and ridiculous as passive aggressive trolling.

It's not as juvenile and ridiculous as passive aggressive trolling. And who is it you think I’m trolling? The ironic part is that rather than responding to the topic of the thread you’re trolling.

I don’t think people sound ‘juvenile and ridiculous’ when they do that and neither do I roll my eyes when they do. I think it depends.... I drop f-bombs. My boss says them often, and they don't even phase me. (I've known her for 12+ years though, so I'm used to it!) My dad does it, and again, doesn't phase me. I certainly don't think it sounds immature or juvenile. But I watch certain d-list 'celebrities' on Snapchat - a mom who is 39 and her 20 year old daughter. They cuss a lot. The daughter sounds ridiculous and immature when she does it. Like she's trying way too hard. So I guess I can understand it b/c for whatever reason when they do it, it bugs me. To the point that I was just going to unfollow them - but they are local to me, so I like to see where they go locally, so I keep watching. But I can't really explain WHY just the two of them annoy me. (nor would they care!)

I think with that pair it comes across as crass and ridiculous because they do not cuss about intelligent topics it’s about Chik Fil A sauce or their nails. 😂👍🏻

Couldn’t care less if adults choose to swear. I do. I don’t do it in a professional context, around kids, or around my parents. I swear here sometimes. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I agree. I am not a fan of swearing. Esp the F word. Some of the Ps here though, are quite proud of their potty mouths. To me it makes them sound less, credible, and, yes, not real bright. Words are a powerful thing. That's probably why they choice to use them.

Funny how everyone is so different. Swearing is not even on my radar, although maybe I don’t hear as much of it as you do.
